VINCENT GUERIN. Okay, so we lied. Well, we didn't actually - just received some bum information. Actually, the FFF (not that jolly beat combo) have changed their minds and decided that our Vinny can't play until January 2002 after all. So, we'll be without him for a bit longer. make your minds up, chaps !

Franck Guidali

RETURN OF THE MIGHTY RED ?. In any case, it's far too early to say, at the moment, but recent form has given some encouragement to Red Stars' hard-pressed supporters. In addition, the emergence of some new talent in the side is a positive point, Franck Guidali (20, pictured) is an example of this. The collective spirit is good, with a bit more bite in front of goal, then perhaps the club can become one of the front-runners in the division.
DSR. Red Stars' third team pulled off a fine 4-1 win at Chatou, last weekend.
CFA 2 RESULTS. Following a third home defeat, Red Star plummet to second bottom place in the table, with ten points only. Sedan and Moissy-Cramayel are the front runners with 20 points, closely followed by Ivry with 19. Results from last weekend : Chantilly – Moissy-Cramayel 0-4, Châlons-en-Champagne – Aubervilliers 1-2, Ivry- Saint-Quentin 2-1, Douai – Cambrai 3-3, Saint-Dizier – Senlis 1-3, Marly – Créteil 1-1.
COUPE DE FRANCE. Poissy, Red Stars' opponents on Saturday in the Coupe de France drew 2-2 at Mondeville. Tedy Meunier, who scored a goal received his marching orders with ten minutes to go, and coach Dewilder saw two points evaporate. His side occupy 7th place, in group D with 17 points.

Malakoff - Red Star 93

RED STAR v POISSY. The hand of Luis Fernandez drew out Poissy as Red Stars' next opponents in the Coupe de France. The club from the Yvelines is no stranger to Red Star - last season Kader Ferhaoui and co, then in the National had difficulty in overcoming a floodlight failure and a stubborn Poissy defence to record a 3-0 victory. As a pre-season friendly back in July, the new-look Red Star still in a period of reconstruction ground out a faily lifeless 0-0 draw with an already-established Poissy side, freshly promoted to the CFA.
The task is not impossible - admittedly there are easier opponents in the cup - but Red Star must show a bit more positivity in front of goal if they are going to progress. Poissy coach Eric Dewilder has two not-quite-so-secret weapons in his armoury - last seasons' Racing CP goalkeeper Phillippe Lafon and playmaker Dave Meunier. Also in the squad is ex-Red Star fullback Laurent Delanoe.
OTHER PARISIAN CLUBS CUP RESULTS. Yerres – Paris FC 0-8, Sainte-Geneviève – Racing 1-3, Draveil – Noisy-le-Sec 0-2, Le Mée – Lusitanos 0-1, UJAfortville – Les Lilas 1-0, Orly – Viry-Châtillon 3-2, Villemomble – Poissy 1-4, Portugais Pontoise – Entente Sannois 0-3, Sartrouville – Moissy-Cramayel 0-6, Ivry – Ville d'Evry 3-0, Bondy – Mantois 1-5 (aet.), Livry-Gargan – Bobigny 2-1, Brévannes – Cosmo Ermont 0-2, Villennes – Arménienne 0-3, ACBB – Conflans 3-1 (aet.), Bry – Vincennes 1-6, Cergy-Pontoise – Fontainebleau 1-0, Persan – Torcy (next weekend), Adamois – Corbeil 3-1, Vélizy – Issy 0-1, Red Star Montreuil – Morangis-Chilly 1-3, Blanc-Mesnil – Saint-leu 1-5, Montereau – Chanteloup 1-4 (aet.), Malakoff – Red Star 0-1 (aet.)

Updated 2nd October

ALSO THIS WEEKEND. In the Championnat de France, the under 15s pasted Mondeville 5-0; the under 17s were held to a goalless draw at Chantilly; in the District, Red Star earned a 6-1 win over Championnet and in the Espoirs DH a 3-1 defeat at a very strong Paris FC.
NOTES FROM MALAKOFF. Free entry on Sunday at Malakoffs' Stade Marcel Cerdan, a stade currently undergoing renovation. The absence of a grandstand (the old one is currently being rebuilt) could have contributed to the decision to let the fans in for free. Fortunately the weather remained clement throughout the encounter, so the small gathering stayed dry.
An agreeable situation to watch the football, with just a small running track separating the players from the crowd. Nice to see no fences to obstruct the vision, as is the case at Paris FC. No directors' box, either, and no sight of any Red Star directors (Bras etc), although the rumour was that JM Roussier was at the game.
Your website flew the flag for Red Star (literally). Red Stars' support is dwindling, down to the real die-hards, and even the Kop is scantily represented these days.
Apologies for the lack of a name for Red Stars' substitute (the number 14). Even at close range no-one recognised him. As soon as we have a name, we'll put it on-line. At least our site had eleven players listed, and that Arthur Gomis stayed on the park long enough to score in the 100th minute..
