CHANGE OF VENUE. Tomorrow afternoons' game in the CFA between Lille reserves and Red Star will take place not at the Stadium du Nord at Villeneuve d'Ascq, but at the Stade Van de Veegaete at Tourcoing, home to the local DH team. On the 27th November 1999 Red Star played there against Marcq en Baroeul in the Coupe de France, running out 3-1 winners with goals from Akiana (2) and Saci. Referee that day was Monsieur Cambraye, who was the referee at the center of the controversy at the end of the match Dunkerque v Red Star. Meanwhile tomorrows' game will be officiated by top-flight official Stéphane Duhamel assisted by David Carrouge & Patrick Hourdouillie.

ALSO THIS WEEKEND. In the DSR, the championship gets back underway following the Winter break - Red Star play Alfortville on Sunday 27th, 1pm CET at the Ile des Vannes, and in the District Montreuil v Red Star. Red Stars' reserves play Aubervilliers on Saturday at the Stade Karman, Aubervilliers (4pm CET).
RED STAR FINED. The financial control commission of the FFF have handed out a € 4 500 euros (29 518 F) for non-declaration of Red Stars' accounts on the 30th June 2001. The fine will not be payable if the club can produce the necessary documents within the next couple of days. In early February, Red Star pass in front of the DNCG to present their documents for the recent transformation of the clubs' legal staus.
NIGE SPEAKS FORTH. Nigel Atkins gave an interview with Le Parisien journalist Gilles Tournoux. In the interview, our Brit Nige explained that his predecessor Jean-Michel Roussier hadn't fulfilled his role of getting potential investors around the table. In addition Roussier had other interests outside of the club which limited the time available to Red Star. Atkins, who has been associated with the club for 15 years sees himself as a stand-in president, and admits that Marville isn't really a football ground, and he is to push for a return to Stade Bauer at Saint-Ouen.
BRAS BACK IN THE SLAMMER ?. Jean-Claude Bras will appeal against the judgement handed down to him by the court at Bobigny yesterday. He was given a one-year suspended sentance, for dodgy tax dealings. The tax boys want € 3.8 from JCB (25 MF).

RESERVES LOSE AGAIN. Changing the coach didin't do the trick for the reserves on Sunday, going down to the tenth defeat of the season at home to Marly. After the game, coach Christophe Fiatte said "I'm very disappointed with certain players who don't seem to be bothered and take themselves to be stars when the situation is serious."
Remember that back in May, the reserves came out champion of their group. Next game is a tough derby against Aubervilliers.

COUPE GAMBARDELLA. Mulhouse, who eliminated Red Star in the last round received a bit of a hammering, going down 5-0 against Nancy. Also out of the competition are favourites Paris SG and AJ Auxerre. Three Parisian clubs are still in the competition : Racing, Créteil & Ivry.
COUPE DE FRANCE. La Montagnarde (DH), will receive around € 137 400 (901 265 FRF) following their cup success - nothing to a club like Bordeaux, but a fortune to a tiny club on a restricted budget. Note that a quarter final place could net them over € 305 000 !

Updated 21st January

GOMES VARELA. Macedo didn't take part in the game on Saturday, having being selected to play for Angola Under 23's in the African Nations Cup in South Africa.
ALAIN BORNAND BOOTED. Reserve team coach since the start of the season, Alain Bornand has received his marching orders from the club following the dismal start to the season which has seen a Red Star win only two of their fourteen matches. The 5-1 drubbing at Chantilly was the final straw, and he has been replaced by last seasons' Christophe Fiatte, currently assistant coach to Jean-Luc Girard. Despite the change, the reserves slipped to another poor defeat at home to Marly 0-2. Other CFA 2 games this weekend : Cambrai – Saint-quentin 3-0, Senlis – Moissy-Cramayel 0-2 et Douai – Ivry 4-2.
JEFF ASTLE. All at AllezRedStar.com were shocked to hear of the sudden death this weekend of former England and West Brom centre-forwards Jeff Astle.

Moins de 17 ans CHAMPIONNAT DE FRANCE. The Under 17s do not have a game this weekend, having already being eliminated from the Coupe Gambardella. Pierre, our man present at last Sundays' game at the Ile-des-Vannes, reports that the match Red Star v Lille was abandoned with several minutes remaining. Red Star had just opened the score, before some Lille players, unhappy with the goal carried their protests too far and were dismissed. With four players off the park the referee had no option but to stop the game. Normally Red Star will be awarded a 3-0 win.
The Under 15s have a game at Le Havre this weekend, kick off 3pm CET, Stade René Rousseau at Le Havre.

We wish Frank a speedy recovery and hope to see him back in action soon.
