PERSPECTIVES. Monday 28th May, 2002. The day a gang of nutters in a souped-up Porsche crash at 150 km/h into a bus shelter, killing a mother and two of her kids - the day George Bush arrives in France, with talk of war in the air - the day that India and Pakistan step even closer to conflict - the day that a Palestinian suicide bomber blows himself up, killing two others... what does the news at 8pm on TF 1 lead with ? Yes, Zinedine Zidanes' injured thigh. No further comment required.
CFA PUMMELLED AGAIN. More depressing news from the reserves - a final humiliation, losing 5-0 at home to champions-elect Moissy Cramayel. Goals : C. Daoud (5, 28) Sallon (14), Racon (40) Nsimba (42 og.)
RED STAR : Foulon, Diomande, Nsimba, Sangar, Tsassong (Lienel 46), Gheribi (Zeren 62), Azoulay, Fellahi, Dao Marques, A. Gomis. Coach : Fiatte.
MOISSY-CRAMAYEL : D'Henry-Liévin (Seck, 46), Hardiagon, Bonelli-Darsoulant (Dagault 46), Oubbana, Sallon, Presse-C. Daoud, Racon (M. Daoud). Coach : Dagneau.
Note that two of the goals were scored by Chaïb Daoud, a player linked with Red Star at the start of the season.
OTHER CFA 2 SCORES. Ivry – Châlons-en-Champagne 1-0, Saint-Dizier – Chantilly 0-3, Sedan –Marly 1-0, Douai – Saint-Quentin 3-0, Cambrai – Aubervilliers 4-3, Reims – Créteil 3-1, Chaumont – Senlis 1-2
DERBY. Paris SG beat Red Stars' third XI 3-1 in the DHR.
STILL NO NEWS. Radio silence from the club, still no news on the imminent collapse of Red Star. To the club officials - please feel free to contribute on here, we are more than willing to hear both sides of any story, in the interests of democracy and fair play. Can we say the same of their site ? Mail us : john@allezredstar.com
ON THE WAY OUT. No sooner has the final whistle on the season 2001-2002 been blown, then the talk of transfers arises. It appears that contacts are well advanced between Red Star and Valenciennes over the departure of our player of the season, goalkeeper Fabrice Bruneau. Meanwhile, midfielder Kalu N'Goma could return to his former club, newly-promoted Viry-Châtillon.

VIRY PROMOTED. End of the season, and unfortunately for Red Star it was the home supporters that staged a celebratory pitch invasion on Saturday, to express their joy at having achieved promotion to the National, at Red Stars' expense let it be said.
Meanwhile at the other end of the table it is Abbeville, Dunkerque and L'Hôpital who will be drowning their sorrows following relegation to the CFA 2. They will now have to wait and see if Red Stars' imminent demise will save one of them from the drop. Jean-Luc Girard made a low-key farewell to the club, his days as coach are numbered, following sixteen years of service to the club as player, captain and latterly coach. Good luck Gigi, our paths will surely cross again.
Red Stars' reserves were thumped 5-0 by champions Moissy Cramayel in the CFA 2.
So that's it, a season where the beast that is Red Star may well have drawn its last breath. A painful end to a once-proud club, dying amidst indifference apart from the hardy souls who bothered to keep right on until the end, despite being treated shabbily by the clubs' officials. It only remains for the final coup de grace to be administered and for the club to be placed into liquidation.
A big thank you to all the supporters who visit this site, please feel free to write and express your feelings on the way things have turned out (john@allezredstar.com). Also a big thanks to the fans, once described by the club officials as being "dead branches", who have resisted every possible inconvenience throw up against them: banned from the main stand, pushed aside like lepers into the pop stand, no coffee, no PA, lights on in the stand all the way through the match....who nevertheless sang and supported the players throug thick and thin - to the old boy of 80 years of age who drove all over the place, often on his own to watch his beloved Red Star...
Whether it be in CFA, CFA or DH, as long as there is a Red Star, we'll support you ever more...

JUST WHEN... we bring you some good news with the start of the renovation work at Stade Bauer (see yesterdays news), in typical Red Star fashion things start to go somewhat pear-shaped again.
Rumours have been circulating some time now that the players have been subjected to delays in receiving their pay cheques. The question has to be asked, how comes the club is in financial trouble when at the start of the season a budget of € 2 286 735 was announced by the club ?
A more sinister rumour is making the rounds at the moment - if the club is unable to pay the players, then liquidiation of the club is imminent. The club effectively split into two earlier in the season, with the first team coming under the umbrella of the SASP, whilst the reserves continued under a different company. Should the SASP go bust, then what will happen is the first team will disappear, but the name Red Star will live on with the current reerve team. As they have just been relegated to the DH, the club will find itself, curiously enough, in exactly the same situation as it did in 1978 when Monsieur Bras took over.
All of this is purely hypothetical for the moment, there is still one more game to go and mathematically Red Star are not out of the promotion hunt yet. Also, in the meantime a buyer could yet be found for the club to save it from extinction. Watch this space - more info will appear as and when we get it. AllezRedStar.com - the only site which keeps you informed.

STADE BAUER

The renovation work at Stade Bauer has started, according to our man at Saint-Ouen, Emile, a long-time supporter of the club. And about time too - another season at Marville could very well have been the death of the club, with the supporters voting with their feet and abandoning the club in droves. For those without the luxury of a car, Marville was an exxpedition - poor tranport links and a long walk in a dodgy area. All that for a poor view, dirty seats and no PA system. Cattle or what.

LAST EVER AT MARVILLE ? Should Red Star move back to Bauer during the Summer (assuming that the repair works will be finished), then Saturdays' game at Marville could very well be the last-ever game there for Red Stars' first team. Four seasons, including relegation from D2, a half-decent season in the National and a couple of good cup runs, a disastrous season in the National, culminating in relegation to the CFA and a near-miss season in the fourth division is the far-from satisfatory record of the club at La Courneuve. About the only things that will be missed are the excellent playing surface and the ease of finding a parking at the ground. Back to Bauer and the round and rounds before the car can be parked !! A small price to pay, it has to be said. Don't forget that Saturdays' game kicks off at the slightly earlier time of 6pm CET, as does the final game of the season at Viry.

Stade Marville

DUNKIRK. The last time the two sides met, Red Star sneaked a last-minute winner in the CFA at Dunkerque. Back in 1995-96, in D 2, Red Star and Dunkerque drew 0-0 for both matches. Saturdays' game at La Courneuve will be officiated by Sandryk Biton, aged 28, a dentist, and he will be assited by Alain Lissorgue & Jean-Philippe Bartier. The visitors will be without defender Xavier Sanchez, sent off last week against Avion. During the season, assistant coach Georges Westerlynck (a former player at the club) took over the hot seat from former Wednesday man Robert Brown, who became General Manager.
CFA 2. Red Stars' reserves make their last away trip to second placed Marly before ending their season at home to leaders Moissy-Cramayel. A tough way to end a poor season, but a chance to salvage some pride.
Other recent results : Cambrai – Moissy-Cramayel 0-1, Chaumont – Aubervilliers 1-2, Douai – Marly 1-1, Reims – Saint-Quentin 1-1, Saint-Dizier – Ivry 2-0, Senlis – Créteil 3-0, Sedan – Châlons-en-Champagne 2-2, and a re-arranged game Cambrai – Senlis 3-0.
GOING DOWN. As well as the reserves, the under 17s have had a rough seaosn, and as a result are relgated from their championship. The under 17s structure will be replaced nationally by an Under 18s championship.
DSR. Red Stars' third XI lost to CA Paris 0-1.

On Wednesday May 8th at Stade Marville, fifteenth placed Chantilly are the next opponents.

With only four games left, with fourteen points adrift of safety, Red Stars' second XI are well and truly relegated. Next season the youngsters will play in the DH Ligue de Paris 2002-2003.
ANDERSON SUSPENDED. Following his sending off in the CFA 2 for the reserves last Sunday, Red Stars' Finnish midfielder (pictured) automatically missed Wednesdays' reserve team defeat against Chaumont.
