OFFICIAL ANNOUNCNEMENT FROM THE FFF, Wednesday 26th June, early evening. (Translation thereof)

Decisions of the Direction Nationale du Contrôle de Gestion

The appeals committee of the Direction Nationale du Contrôle de Gestion (DNCG) confirmed the decision taken earlier to relegate the Nice club to the National championship (D3 - Ed.). It also confirms the recruitment controls imposed on Olympique de Marseille.
Nice had intially been relegated to the National because of finicial problems. Last Tuesday, the 18th of June, the club presented a new takeover plan to the appeals committe.

FC Metz, relegated to the Championnat de France de Ligue 2 at the end of the season 2001-2002 in seventeenth place in the final league table, are therefore reinstated to the Championnat de France de Ligue 1, according to the Ligue de football professionnel (LFP).

Elsewhere, DNCG Federal have tken the following decisions :
- Alès will continue in the Championnat National
- relegation of Racing CF to the Championnat de France Amateur
- demotion of Red Star to the CFA2.

IN A WORD - "THANKS !"

We've known for several months now that Red Star were in danger, the announcement from the FFF yesterday confirms this, Red Star have been relegated to the CFA 2.
Basically, the last twenty five years have been wasted.
The club management owe an apology to the players, coaches, volunteers and its supporters as well as to local and county councils.
What a waste !

DECISION TODAY ?. Despite the apalling radio silence from the club, it appears that the famous Red Star club should know its fate today. CFA, CFA2 or Paris DH, or at the very worse total extinction of the 102 year old club. The DNCG (Direction Nationale de Contrôle de Gestion), the body which oversees the finances of French football clubs had earlier demoted Red Star into the CFA 2. The club appealed against the decision, and today the outcome of the appeal will be announced.
Clever money is on the following scenario: the DNCG rejects Red Stars' appeal and forces the club into the CFA 2. The clubs' "directors" will reject this decision, and liquidate the club. Thus, in theory at least the club will continue in the DH. But, knowing Red Star, anything is possible... Whatever the outcome, as soon as this site has the news, we'll bring it to you - AllezRedStar !!!!!

N'GOMA. Just when it appeared that Kalu N'Goma would sign for his former club Viry-Châtillon, his destination could prove to be a bit further south, at CFA club Aurillac (town twinned with Worksop in the UK).

In the under-17 category, Red Stars' youngsters brought some pride back to the ailing club, thrashing Levallois 7-0. Note that for the youngsters, Remy Deom, whose brother Damien is currently at Saint-Etienne played a starring role.

THE TOLLING OF THE IRON BELL...
Somewhat masked by the euphoria that is the World Cup, the future of one of Frances' best-loved clubs is under a heavy black cloud. Jules Rimet, founder of both Red Star and the WOrld Cup must be turning in his grave at the thought of what his successors at Saint-Ouen have done to his beloved club.
For several months rumours have been circulating about Red Stars' precarious financial position, and when the daily Le Parisien publishes articles of a similar vein, then there is, as they say, no smoke without fire.
In case of Red Star packing it in, then at the moment the talk is of starting a new chapter in the CFA 2, one divison below Red Stars' current position, marginally better than the DH in terms of the football heirachy, but infintely less passionate than then the local league. Every match in the DH would be a local derby, whereas in the CFA 2 there is stil la lot of travelling to do to pitiful stadiums watched by one man and his dog.
One man surely on his way out is ex-international Vincent Guérin. A final throw of the dice in trying to make Red Star a big club once again, the President/ex-President/President (depending upon which way the wind blows, it appears) attempting a media coup. The last in a series of failed media coups (Stade de France, Cascarino, Ferhaoui etc etc) which have failed miserably, leaving the club in the position is now finds itself in.
The wheel has come a full circle, the club is back in the same position it was in back in 1978...
On view of it's recent track history, the "team" currently running the club have reached an impasse, and perhaps now it is time to hand the keys over to NEW blood, but maybe that time is too late, as who would want to pour money into a CFA 2 club ? More to the point, will the County Council of Seine-Saint-Denis and the local council at Saint-Ouen wish to continue to support a "team" so obviously inept ?

OUSFANE. Former Red Star striker (1987-90), Mustapha Ousfane, currently coach at local outfit Gennevilliers could be in line for the hot seat at Red Star, to replace outgoing coach Jean-Luc Girard.

DIVISION D'HONNEUR. Should Red Star go into liquidation, then the club could well continue with the reserve section, relegated last season from the CFA 2. If so, the club would play in the Parisian DH, which next season will consist of the following clubs : RED STAR, Sainte-Geneviève des Bois, Arménienne, Paris FC (2), Cosmo Ermont Taverny, Racing (2), Le Mée, Versailles, Meaux, Villemomble, Bobigny, Brétigny-sur-Orge, Paris SG (3). So, fairly easy to get to away games, no more having to traipse halfway across France to see dull draws. Whatever happened the glory days of the seventies, when Red Star were playing Marseille ?
