PICK THAT ONE OUT, KEEPER. In the dying seconds of the match against Chantilly at Marville last Saturday, Red Star, trailing 1-0 are awarded a penaly. Doumbya, showing a good turn of pace is floored in the eighteen yard box. Up steps Aboubacar Sylla, in place of the more usual Rémy Deom... not a perfect penalty, the ball goaes in off the 'keepers right hand post, but enough to earn the home club a draw. Photos exclusive to AllezRedStar.com - if you see them on another Red Star site, they've been ripped off...

RESERVES NEWS. The season for the reserves gets underway this weekend. Following relegation from the CFA 2 last season, Red Stars' youngsters find themselves in a very tough Parisian league, along with some very ambitious clubs as well as the reserve teams of high-flying clubs. The Seine-Saint-Denis departement has three representatives : Bobigny, Red Star (2), Villemomble.
The first round of games this weekend sees Meaux v Racing (2), Paris SG (3) v Versailles, Brétigny v Villemomble, Evry v Arménienne, Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois v Ermont-Taverny, Bobigny v Le Mée Sports and Paris FC (2) v Red Star (2) at the Stade Déjérine (Porte Montreuil), kick-off 3-30pm CET. Referee is M. Eric Wernert.

LATEST. Baking hot conditions on Saturday evening at Marville, but at least refreshements were available and the bogs were unlocked. Marginally fewer supporters than the previous weekend, but the fact that it was a four-day weekend for some people may have contributed to the reduced numbers. The 15th of August weekend is the high point of the holiday season and many go away at this time.
Unfortunately the game will probably be most remembered for the incident involving a local newspaper reporter. As he was going about his job, taking pictures from the touchline (which he is perfectly entitled to do, as he carries a press pass), he was pushed and jostled by two of Red Stars' club officials, including the PA announcer, who normally should have been up in the stand, giving the team details out. This incensed the home supporters and led to cries of "Freedom of the press" and "Bras and Castejon resign !" from the stand. It was as if all the frustrations and anger which has been building up in the fans all came out in one go...
Just another appalling example of the way the club is going. Sat watching, one wondered if it is worth building up any kind of hopes of winning the championship, as would the club even be in line for promotion or another demotion on administrative grounds to the DH... one cannot help but be pessmisitic. On Saturday it could be said that some of the assembled were just there to watch a game of football as opposed to trying to support a team with the hope of glory at the end of the season. A sad state of affairs indeed.
No doubt there will be more to come - in any case if AllezRedStar.com has any good photos of the incident, we could very well publish them on this site.
Just to point out that after the game against Chartres, the pressman for the local Chartres paper mentioned that he had to conduct his post-match interviews with the players and coaches from the other side of the fence, after he had been refused access to the changing rooms.

A HARD FOUGHT DRAW. This was the general opinion after the seasons' opener at home to Chartres on Saturday at Marville. Red Stars' youngsters fought back after the disappointment of conceding a goal after less than one minute of play. The effort started to tell in the second period, though, and in reality Red Star did well to hold on for the draw.
Red Star played in green on Saturday, a "new" shirt of a bottle green colour. In addition, all the supporters were grouped together in the "Main" stand at Marville, as the TinCanStand was shut to the public. This had the effect of reducing any atmosphere. Many fans turned up late again - some coming back from other games in the Paris region, the rest confused by the official sites' announcement that the game kicked off at 7 instead of six. Once again, only this site got it right ! We wait to see if they get it right for next weekend. In the meantime, we can tell you that the Chantilly game at Marville will kick off at SIX PM CET.
Meanwhile, the usual shoddy treatment of the paying public by the club continues - no PA announcements, thus no team listings - bear in mind that Red Star this season is a completely different side to last seasons'. No scoreboard until half-time, either - despite all this, the entry remains the same price as last season, five euros.

SEVEN MONTHS. Note that Robert Gomis features in the list of departures from the club. A possible destination is England, but any club which risks to take him on should be aware that he received a SEVEN MONTHS suspension following the incidents at Les Lilas, last April. Robert received a red card for a dubious tackle on an opponent, before chasing the referee and at point grabbing hold of the official. Gomis has had an apalling record of red cards whilst at the club.
FRANCK BUSUTTIL. Ex-midfielder has signed for Levallois (CFA 2).

STADE BAUER. The work is ongoing at Red Stars' "home" in Saint-Ouen. The "New Stand" on rue Bauer has now been re-roofed, and the stand where the press box is has had work done, including reinforcement of the roof supports. On Monday the painters were in, and the pitch itself is looking in good shape, ready for the players' boots. We are on the home straight, the often dreamed-of return to Saint-Ouen is close to becoming a reality. The local magazine carried a report on the progress at Stade Bauer (pictured below).

RED STAR V PACY-SUR-EURE. The goialscorers in this game were : Sarambounou (42), with a lovely header, Rémy Deom (49, penalty), Delaneuville (53), from a free-kick, Deceul (55) and the youngster Marquès (82). Pacy-sur-Eure pulled one back through a 59th minute Hameau penalty.

Ousmane Sarambounou
Ousmane Sarambounou, who turned out twice in the CFA for Red Star, as did Doumbya and Diomande (one appearance each), are the only survivors from lasr seasons' campaign

ON TRIAL. Franck Busuttil is having trials with Levallois (CFA 2), whilst Arthur Gomis is playing with Quevilly (CFA).
SEBASTIEN PENDOLA. The match programme for the game on the 18th May last season carried an interview with player Sébastien Pendola. In it, Pendola, who didn't play in that game against Dunkirk was reported to have said (our translation) "I regret the attacks from outside the club, whether they be from the press or from so-called pseudo supporters".
Whilst he was at Marville on Saturday, we took the chance to clear up this issue. Sébastien was astonished to hear of the remarks he is alleged to have made, "never have I made such remarks vis à vis the supporters and I ask you on my behalf to express my feelings on this to anyone who might have been offended by these comments - moreover I haven't actually seen this interview.". He also indicated to us that certain people at the club demanded that the players didn't go over to salute or applaud the fans in the "popular" stand at the end of the game. We say - Top man, Sébastien Pendola.

FIRST WIN. Red Star beat a poor PACY side on Saturday evening by 5-1. We don't have the goalscorers name, because the club didn' think that it ws necessary to hand out team sheets of boradcast any announcements.
As is typical of the shambles that is Red Star at the moment, the match kicked off one hour before it was announced to be starting - thus only a handful of Pacy supporters and two Red Star fans whom had turned up early actually saw the kick off !! Red Stars' official shite said 7 o'clock, whereas information from Pacy said six. The latter turned out to be correct. Note that for the first game of the season at Marville against Chartres, 10th August, the kick off according to the FFF site is six, Red Stars' official site says seven. Better turn up at six, just in case.
If Red Star are having trouble with their watches, then it appears that they are also having trouble with their phones. When we tried on Saturday, neither 01 40 10 82 71 nor 01 40 10 13 23 were working - have the club not enough cash to pay the phone bills now ??
Present at the game was Sébastien Pendola, now with Racing, but who was the target last season of some stick from supporters after his name appeared on a so-called interview with him in the official match programme of Red Star. In this interview he is alleged to have spoken out against "pseudo-supporters of Red Star, intent on destroying the club" (our translation). It appears that Mr. Pendola never said anything of the sort, and it could very well be that words have been put into the interview which may not actually be in the spirit of what was said. Apologies to Sébastien if we are in the wrong.
More depressing news came in the form of more delays to the return to Stade Bauer - now put back to "mid-September".
