SERGE BESNARD. Saturday it was announced that fomer Red Star midfielder from the 60s and early 70s Serge Besnard had passed away, at the age of 53. He started out with CA Montreuil, became a junior then under-21 international junior, spending seven seasons at Saint-Ouen (1968 - 75). He scored eleven goals in this time before moving on to Lille, Tours & Saint-Raphaël. He became coach at Tours and Saint-Raphaël.
He is the second ex-Red Star man to pass away in recent times, following André Simonyi. The site AllezRedStar.com extends its sympathies to his family.
Note that before the match at Bauer on Saturday, there was a minutes silence in honour of Serge. Also note that on the official site of Red Star 93, there is an attack on Red Stars' supporters, accusing them of being disrespectful in shouting during the minute. Let's clear this matter up. Firstly, the shouting was because the clubs' monkeys used the minutes silence in order to tear down the fans' anti-Bras banners. Secondly, most of the fans in the wing stand didn't hear the announce for the minutes silence, because of the poor nature of the sound system. Is it poor or had it been deliberately switched off in the popular sections of the stand ?? As for the official site, well, let's be honest, what they write is total bullshit, and anyone who was present at the match will know the truth. Besides, more people will visit this site and our French version, and will have the TRUTH. To the author of the article on the official site - BOLLOCKS !!

COUPE DE FRANCE. Red Star have been given a tough draw in the cup, away to Paris FC (CFA). The match will take place over the weekend of October 19th & 20th at the Stade de la Porte de Montreuil. In 1988 Red Star played PFC in the cup and lost 1-2.

ONLY FOUR DAYS TO GO. Before Red Stars' return to the Stade Bauer at Saint-Ouen, home since 1910. A visit yesterday to the ground revealed that all is ready for the big day, just the final touches being appplied. For many it will be a chance to return to the club, as if life had stopped on May 8th, 1998, the date of the last game at Bauer. A happy chappy will be the owner of the Olympique Cafe across the road from the stadium, bereft of his match day clients since 1998. Inside, a cafe bar full of character, little changed in recent years, filled with mementos and souvenirs of past glories at Bauer.
Incidentally the stadium, formerly known as the Stade de Paris and sometimes simply Stade Bauer is actually the Stade Municipal de Saint-Ouen. It is located in the Rue du Docteur Bauer, previously called Rue de La Chapelle but renamed in honour of a member of the wartime resistance executed by the occupying Nazis.

UNDER 16s. An excellent win for Red Stars' youngsters, thumping Paris FC 6-1.
SUSPENSION. Sent off in the dying seconds of the 1-0 defeat at Créteil, Yessad has been handed down a three-match ban.
LAURENT DELANOUE. Is still in the run to be a Popstar, and the next episode takes place Thursday evening on the channel M6.

GOING GOING GONE. Sarambounou, who featured in a couple of CFA games last season and who played in the pres-season friendlies has left Red Star. Another departure is Doceul, while Sylla also appears to be on the point of leaving Saint-Ouen.

This weekend Red Star kick off their cup campaing with a trip across the city to play IGNY. Kick off is at 3pm CET, Complexe des Bois Brûlés, Chemin des Picotois. The ground is near the railway station at Igny, but on Sunday the servie is only one train per hour from the Gare d'Austerlitz. Otherwise, take the RER line B at Les Halles and alight at Massy-Palaiseau - you'll have a 2km walk afterwards, but the service is more frequent.
The Coupe de France represents Red Stars' only hope this season, as the promotion is totally out of the question now, both in sporting and financial terms. Relegation, and liquidation appear almost inevitable now, so a good cup run should generate a bit of interest in the club as well as a bit of much-needed cash.
DIVISION HONNEUR. Red Star reserves 1 Villemomble (0-0)

RED STAR : Banen-Bassong, Tounkara, Fourneuf, Han-Mami, Fofana, Lakrout, Gheribi (Oure 87), Diallo, Garbi, Kachaden (Dewambez 68), Fissirou. Coach: Badoune.
