VIOLENCE. Last Sundays' derby game between Choisy-le-Roi and Aubervilliers ended in a 5-1 defeat for the visitors, which makes the task of avoiding relegation even more difficult. Worse still, at the end of the game, the match ended in disarray with one player from each team going for an early bath. Their little punch-up continued as they made for the tunnel. Then followed a pitch invasion. Serious consequences are in store for both clubs.

SUSPENDED. For the trip to Aubervilliers, Red Star will be without three players out through suspensions: Bilal Hammami, Kor Anderson and Arnaud Mouflard.

Ivry - Red Star

CHAMPIONNAT DE FRANCE.Under 16s: Red Star - Colmar : 2-2
DIVISION HONNEUR. Under 18S : Red Star 1 Racing 1.
BLAISE MAMOUN. Former Red Star player Blaise Mamoun is now plying his trade in the German second division with SV Waldhof Mannheim. Yesterday evening, his new club slumped 3-0 at home to SC Freiburg, a defeat which puts Mannheim in deep relegation trouble. Mamoun, one of Mannheims' best players, had a great chance to open the scoring in the first half, but he was denied by a superb one-handed save from the Freiburg goalkeeper Richey Golz. Freiburgs' goals were scored by Bajramovic, Ramdane and Tskitishvili.

KAMEL BOUSSELIOU News of Kamel Bousseliou. Kamel has decided to end his palying career following the nasty injury received at Ivry. He has finally left the hospital after eleven days, one operation and some agonizing moments. Aged 34, Kamel has also decided to persue the matter further. He had lodged a complaint against the player involved in the incident, Ali Ouedraogo and the Ivry club.
Whilst relieved to have got through the worst, Kamel says that the bruising near the brain will take another month to completely. He was told by the doctors that what he had gone through was similar to a car accident.
The other player involved, Ali Ouedraogo, actually visited Kamel in hospital, and Red Stars' goalkeeper is of the opinion that the Ivry man did not deliberately seek to injure his opponent. A crucial point in the story is that Ouedraogo admits that he had recived strict orders before the game. Kamel believes that what happened just didn't happen out of the blue. Other Red Star players have told Kamel that he had the ball between his hands when the Ivry man arrrived behind his back. What happened should not have happened on a football pitch. Kamel wonders what could drive someone to make a 25-metres run just to thump into an opponent ? He also cites the match referee, who shoudl be responsible for the safety of the palyers during a game. The referee failed to stop play, and for this Kamel is going to send a letter of complaint to the Ethics Commission.
Kamel arrived before the start of the season, initially to join the coaching staff, folowing a long career with Aubervilliers and Blanc-Mesnil. However, following several shortcomings in the goalkeeping department he took up the gloves again and became regular custodian. Now it is all over - to him football isn't a game but a street fight. He plans to organise a testimonial game eventually.
Kamel thanks the supporters for their messages and gestures during his time in hospital.

Ivry - Red Star

POINT OF VIEW: IVRY. Following the comments made by Kamel Bousseliou, Ivry club react. They say that whilst understanding the point of view made by the player having spent eleven days in a hospital, the comments do not necessarily reflect the reality of the matter. Jean-Pierre Robin, Ivry coach goes on to say that the collision occurred whilst both players were airborne following a free kick. Ali Ouedraogo did not make a 25-metre run and Bousseliou did not have the ball in his hands. It was an accident and not a deliberate agression. At Ivry, we do not give out instructions of that sort. We prefer to lose a game rather than to deliberately foul.

Red Star - Créteil

Updated 7th March

NO CHOICE. How many times have we carried that headline on this site in recent years ? Once again Red Star find themselves in a backs against the wall situation. Victory against Créteils' reserves is imperative. There are still forty points left to play for this season, and at the moment Red Star have thirty four. So no more messing around, its down to business for the serious stuff of winning.
The last two matches have ended in daws, a disappointing one at home to Rethel and last Sundays' hard-fought one at Ivry. A win tomorrow will require the same sort of spirit and technique shown in the first half at Ivry.
Absent of course will be the regular goalkeeper but it is still unclear if reserve team 'keeper Faouzi Bensassi will be fit to play. Another possible absence will be influential defender Nabile Yessad injured in a clash on Sunday. However, in the reckoning could be ex-captain Mickaël Santos in defence and striker Aboubacar Sylla. Answers tomorrow evening.

Our best regards to both players.

ECHOS FROM THE MATCH. Obviously the big talking point from Sundays' game was the injury to Red Stars' goalkeeper Kamel Bousseliou. The shambles that Red Star has become as a club was evident in that there was only one club representant at Ivry. In the absence of the regular sponge man, the guy who tore down the supporters' banners at the Aubervilliers game, it was left to François Sarrea to carry the bucket. When Kamel went down, he was attended to by both François and the Ivry bucket man, and his injuries were serious enough to merit a call for an ambulance. The ambulance arrived quick enough, to their credit, but as our François was the only club representative present, there was no-one to accompany the unfortunate goalkeeper to hospital. Perhaps the clubs' directors were too busy writing out next Saturdays' match programme editorial, thinking of nasty things to say about the supporters to actually go to Ivry.
Presumably, and hopefully, someone from the club did go direct to the hospital. If not, a poor state of affairs at Red Star.
Credit where it's due - to substitute Philippe Marques, who stayed with Kamel until the ambulance arrived.
The game was played in a good spirit, nothing nasty between the players, indeed two of the bookings handed out were for simulation and for Fissirou kicking the ball away in frustration after an offside. Full marks to both sets of players for an entertaining game, despite the circumstances.
Full marks to Ivry, for attempting to make a match day programme - not many around at this level of French football. And we'll forgive you for the grammatical mistakes !
THANKS, LADS. To the coach and players, who came over to the forty or so Red Star supporters who had made the short trip across Paris. Despite being the "Dead Branches", these supporters spend their time and money to watch and encourage the players, and can be counted on to get behind their heros. On Sunday, together with the determination of the players to win the game for Kamel, the supporters were worth a goal start to Red Star.
ELSEWHERE. Rethel beat Chantilly 2-1 and are level on points with Red Star with a game in hand. More bad news for Red Star is that Chartres beat Choisy-le-Roi 3-2. Aubervilliers drew two apiece with Orléans 2-2, as were Saint-Quentin against Reims. Beauvais inflicted the first defeat of the season on Roye 3-1 whilst Créteil beat Chaumont 2-0, and Auxerre beat Châlons-en-Champagne 2-0.
DIVISION HONNEUR. Villemomble - Red Star : 1-0.
