THE COACH SPEAKS. In an exclusive interview with this site, Red Stars' coach Azzedine Méguellatti talked of the positive aspects of last Sundays' game at Issy. He was pleased with the performance of his young team, who deserved to share the points at least. He said that they were willing to listen to his directions, and were good learners. At the moment Red Star are undergoing a phase of learning, and the true face of the new Red Star will not emerge perhaps until the end of September. Then, he hopes to have his suspended and injured players available. Perhaps some new recruits as well. Azzedine also underlined the contribution made by former PSG boss Luis Fernandez.
He went on to praise the off-field work of Red Stars' new management team, who have already put in an enormous amount of work to rebuild the club after years of neglect and devastation. Elsewhere at Stade Bauer, the corridors are buzzing with activity as a team of volunteers work to get the club back on its feet again. Good humour and openness abound, in complete contrast to recent years. |

ANOTHER WORLD EXCLUSIVE ! On Friday, Monsieur Charrier unveiled exclusively for the this site the new home shirt for the season 2003-2004. At the moment there is no main sponsors' name on the chest, but the back carries the name "Perrier" and the sleeves "Paru Vendu". There is also the obligatory Red Star. Several new designs for the red star are being discussed at present - no doubt we will be the first to bring you the details. The away kit is white, with blue trim, which echos the original colours of the Red Star of 1897.
LATEST NEWS In the stands was Jean-Luc Girard, his first match since his depart at the end of the season 2001-2002. From 1986 to 2002, Jean-Luc Girard had rarely missed a game as a player, assistant coach or coach. Now in charge of the youth teams, welcome back Gigi. |

WORLD EXCLUSIVE ! We are the first to bring you the news that ex-Red Star coach Jean-Luc Girard is to return to the club as Sporting Co-ordinator for the youth teams. "Gigi" will bring his vast experience on a non-paid volunteer basis to the aspiring Steve Marlets of Red Star FC 93s' youth teams. Jean-Luc was a player for many years at Red Star before becoming assistant coach in 1997. He took over the reins following the departure of Jean Sérafin in 1999, but failed to stop the club sliding out of D2. Appointed coach again for the 1999-2000 season in the National, together with Pierre Repellini, they took Red Star to the semi-finals of the League Cup. For the following season, he was initially assistant to Repellini, but only days before the start of the new season, Jackie Lemée was sensationally brought in as first team coach. A disastrous start saw the dismissal of Lemée and once again Girard took over, but the damage had been done and relegation was inevitable. His last season in charge saw the club narrowly miss out on promotion from the CFA; Gigi had built a squqd capable of lifting Red Star back to the National, but off-field events ruined the run-in. In the event, Red Star were relegated, Jean-Lucs' contract was not renewed and after years of loyal service, he left the club.

LATEST NEWS. Coach Méguellatti will be without captain Yoann Delaneuville (left knee) and Azedine Benmesmoudi (ankle) for the first match of the season on Sunday at Issy. For the game, Red Star must have no more than five transferred players in the starting line-up. On Sunday for the practice game, he started his "probable" line-up with Néret, Carles (captain), Fourneuf, Hammani, Budoc and Marques from last season, and five new players : Gueye, Desmarets, Jalliti, Matingou and Milome. The job is even more complicated now with the injury to Phil Marques.
SATURDAY AT PABLO NERUDA. Red Stars' reserves play a friendly match in the warm-up for the new DSR season. The opponents are Gonesse (PH), kick-off 3pm CET. The season gets underway on the 7th September.

JINX. On Sunday, Red Star organised a practice match between two teams from their squad. The match, eventually won by the "Probables" was marred by the injury to striker Philippe Marques. Victim of a shoulder injury, Phil was taken to hospital by ambulance. He will now miss the start of the season, as will midfielder and captain Yoann Delaneuville, who limped off with a knee injury on Thursday evening against Orly.
In Sundays' game, the "Probables" beat the "Possibles" 2-0, the goals scored by Milome and Marques. The same two scored the goals in the friendly on Thursday evening against Orly.
ORLY. Against Orly, Red Star claimed their first pre-season victory, and totally merited it. Outclassing the visitors technically, Red Stars' organisation under coach Meguellatti was excellent. Milome scored the first goal after a calamity in the Orly defence, then a quarter of an hour later Phil Marques scored a fine goal. Later Ryad Fellahi moved up front after Milome was withdrawn following fisticuffs with an Orly player. His main contribtion was a free kick, struck beautifully which curled past the goalie only to hit the crossbar. Red Star didn't make too many changes at half time, Meguellati preferring to retain a stable line-up. With one or two minor modifications this appears to be his starting line-up, with Néret in goals, confident, a solid defence of Carles, the excellent Hammami, Gueye and Fourneuf; midfield Budoc, Mintingo, Desmarets and the entreprising Jalliti, and up front Milome and another, possibly Fellahi. |

FIVE YEARS ALREADY !
The site celebrates it's fifth birthday, yes, five whole years of existence. In this time, the club has plunged from D2 and talk of European football, Stade de France, to what is essentially Parisian parks football. We have reported on the incompetence that has dragged this once-produ club to the depths. Not all bad times, however - the famous league cup run of 2000 culminating in the semi-final against Gueugnon. More recently the takeover of the club by Mr. Charrier and before that the return to Stade Bauer. As we enter into a new era of "perestroika" and "glasnost", we celebrate and thank all our visitors since the start, we may only be a sixth division club, but thanks to our visitors and contributors, we must have one of the most complete sites in French football. TONIGHT. Red Star continue their pre-season with a friendly match at home to Orly, kick off 8pm CET at Stade Bauer. This time, the coaching staff aim to put out a consistent line-up and don't intend to make a mass of changes at half-time. Orly is a former club of Red Star assistant coach Mustapha Ousfane, and newly promoted, they have signed seven new faces, including Achile Atchiepo (Ivry CFA 2), Marc Casas (ex-Levallois goalkeeper, CFA 2), Rudoph Rose-Serville (Arménienne, DH). On Sunday, Red Star have another friendly at the Stade Pablo Neruda, Saint-Ouen. Details to appear on our mini-site. |

WE'RE GETTING THERE. Just six weeks after being born, Red Star FC 93 are slowly but surely growing up. On Saturday afternoon under blazing sunshine, the players showed that thye have being paying attention to the coaching staff. As he did against Cosmo, Azzedine Méguellatti did a Sven-Goran and played virtually different sides each half. Aubervilliers on the other hand made just seven changes.

RED STAR 0 COSMO 1. In fairness to Red Star and their coach Azzedine Meguellatti, the scoreline of last nights' friendly hardly reflects the balance of the game. Red Star were far more creative, industrious and positive than their opponents. The goal, a penalty on twleve minutes scored by the only Cosmo player of any interest, the ex-Racing and Reims man Akoun was the difference between two DH outfits of differing footballing schools. Red Star did an Eriksson and changed virtually all the team for the second period, the only survivor being the excellent Bilhal Hammami. The players who had played at a higher level stood out - Akoun for Cosmo, Hammami, Carles, Delaneuville among others for Red Star. The new boys were there too - Azzedine Benmesmoudi showed some excellent touches from midfield, and Ryad Fellahi echoed his more famous brother Karim. Up front, however, it was the usual woe for Red Star. Midfield carved out a wonderful scoring opportunity for Fissirou, who in his usual one-against-one style meekly tapped the ball to the visitors' goalie. Perhaps not the answer to Red Stars' attacking problems. Time and time again Red Star put together some excellent midfield and approach work, ony for the final pass to be wayward, or for some poor finishing.
After the break, a new set of players emerged, many new faces. Fréd Néret took his place between the sticks and looked confident, albeit having virtually nothing to do for forty five minutes. Jeremy Budoc, an early doors captain last season before falling out of favour impressed, Phil Marques ran round a lot, and a new face, name yet unknown could have easily drawn the sides level, shooting narrowly over the bar.
Pictured below, new signings Azzedine Benmesmoudi doing a remarkable impression of Rivaldo, and the goalkeeper Laurent Delmas.

Just one month after the decision of the Tribunal de Grande Instance de Bobigny, the supporters will get the chance to see the face of the club for the season 2003-2004. Azzedine Meguellatti gets the chance to test out his men against another DH club, Cosmo Taverny-Ermont. A club well-known Red Stars' coach, as he was a player with both Taverny and Ermont before becoming coach with the unified club. After this friendly, Red Star have another lined up on Saturday 9th August, against local rivals and DH club Aubervilliers, kick off 3pm CET at the Stade Pablo Neruda
