SITE NEWS. Despite being already hugely successful, this site never stands still, and so we are always looking to develop new ideas. Already we have the guest book, archives of match reports going back to 1998, news archives covering the same period, thousands of photos, video library...
Going forwards, for next season we hope to bring you live match reports from most of the away games, a "coachs' page" which will be contributed by Jean-Luc Girard, more technical innovations, and just recently we have taken posession of a collection of incredibly rare French footballing magazines from the period 1958 to 1967 with photos and articles dedicated to the Red Star and Stade Bauer. We may be a DH club, but hopefully we can bring you a site just as interesting and technically inovative as some of the big clubs !

Following three relegations in as many seasons, and a trading deficit of 1.5 million euros, the new Red Star directors have put all that in the past and the club has stablised itself in the DH, as well as keeping the youth teams at a decent level. The books will been balanced at the end of June with an annual budget of 207 000 euros.
These positive points enable the management to look forwards to the season 2004-2005 with optimism and ambition, with the stated aim of promotion for the first XI into the CFA 2.
Eric Charrier wishes to step down as club president, and his place will be taken by Bruno Davoine, aged 45, president of an international company specialising in telecommunications. Mr Charrrier will in the meantime carry on as vice-president. Jean-Luc Girard announed that the seniors will be back in training on the 19th July, and the youth teams on the 16th of August.

SO WHO IS FIKRET ?. As mentioned yesterday, Red Star is also the name of a clothing company based in Istanbul, and whose General Manager is no stranger to this site. On the right of the photo below is Fikret Özbek, along with site contributor Thérèse. As well as being a supporter of Red Star FC 93, Fikret is also a great fan of Besiktas.

WORTHWHILE FOOTBALLING LINKS. This is one that definitely merits a mention. Jer Boon, a Bristol City supporter has cycled to every match that his club has played in this season. He even did, (in his own words) "a 500 mile round-trip to Hartlepool - in January - to watch 90 minutes of rubbish Second Division football". He is trying to raise money for a very worthwhile charity, the Breast Cancer Campaign. Have a look at his website here :www.bcfcbybike.com and make a donation.

NEW SIGNINGS. As we mentioned yesterday, Taïeb Abdallah, one of Red Stars' exciting new signings scored last season against his new club. Ahmed Hamdani, another positive signing also "did the dirty" against Red Star by scoring Saint-Leus' second goal in the away fixture. Here are some photos of Saint-Leu v Red Star, including Ahmeds' goal, following up on a partly cleared free kick from Walquir Mota. Incidentally, Ahmed finished as Saint-Leus' top scorer with eight goals. AllezRedStar.com already noted this player when he played for Les Lilas, and in a game at Marville in the CFA, it was the early departure through injury of this player that changed the balance of play in favour of Red Star, who went on to win the game 2-0.
As for Red Stars' third signing, on the 13th of October 2001, Grégori Sinobab was playing for Poissy and his team knocked Red Star out of the Coupe de France.
KITS OUT FOR THE LADS. Red Star have a new kit manufacturer for the season 2004-2005. Nike will be the new supplier, and the star will be balanced on the other side of the chest by the "swoosh" sign. The colour of the shirt is a retro design which brings back memories of the shirts worn in the 1960s. We will bring you exclusive photos of ths new kit on this site. For the moment models of some of the new sportswear are on display at Stade Bauer (t-shirt, polo, sweat-shirt, vest...)
These items will soon be on sale - all will carry the famous Red Star logo. Prices as a guide : jacket 26 euros, t-shirt 31 euros, Sweat-shirt 30 euros, sleeveless shirt 22 euros, Polo 24 euros, track suit 35 euros as well as football boots : childs up to Euro size 38, 33 euros, adult 38 euros, shin pads 4 euros. JOSE FARIAS. Former Red Star player and coach Red Star José Farias has passed away in Argentina at the age of 67.
José FARIAS was born on April 17th 1937 in Bolivar, Argentina. He made his debuts with Boca Juniors before moving on to Gimmasia y Escrima de la Plata, Los Andes, Huracan, then emigrating to France where he started out with RC Paris then RC Strasbourg where he won the Coupe de France of 1966. From 1967 to 1970, Farias wore the colours of Red Star FC, at that time in the First Division. He wowed the public at Saint Ouen with his famous "roulette". Elegant as a player, an unequalled technician, all the supporters who were lucky enough to have seen him in action will remember him. He returned to Saint-Ouen as coach from 1972 to 1974 and won the Second Division championship in 1973-74.
