RED STAR … PUTEAUX, ACCORDING TO MARCEL. Completely by coincidence, former Red Star goalie of the 1960s, Marcel Dantheny was present at the fête of Saint-Ouen on Sunday. From the town of Esbly in the Seine-et-Marne, his career took hime from Esbly to Rueil-Malmaison, taking in the two cubs whom will meet on Sunday in the Coupe de France, Red Star and Puteaux. In the previous round, Puteaux beat … Esbly 5-3. Marcel played at Puteaux for five years, at the impressive age of 42.
COUPE DE FRANCE. Elsewhere in the Coupe de France, Noisy-le-Sec, Red Stars' neighbours play current DH leaders Cosmo. Villemomble, last sesons' champions travel to Poissy, a club with a large ex-Red Star influence (coachn players...). Le Blanc-Mesnil will have a tough job against CFA team Moissy-Cramayel. Epinay-sur-Seine play another DH club Lusitanos. Les Lilas have a relatively easy trip to Villeneuve-la-Garenne and Aubervilliers v Fleury-Mérogis, Saint-Denis v Le Chesnay completes the tour of local clubs.
RESERVES. Two quick goals on the hour killed off Red Stars' reserves on Sunday against La Colombienne. Other results : Cosmo - Levallois 1-2, ACBB - Palaiseau 1-2, Chatou - Cachan 3-2, Poissy - Le Tremblay 4-2. Villepinte - Le Perreux postponed. |

CUP - ITS PUTEAUX. Red Star have been rewarded with a trip to Puteaux in the next round of the Coupe de France. Last time Red Star met the club from the Haute de Seine was in 1989, when the reserves drew 0-0 in the DHR. The stadium is actually situated on an island in the middle of the Seine, so any good long defensive clearances or wayward shots might end up in the river. Incidentally, Red Stars' classy defender Vincent Fourneuf should know the town of Puteaux well - he was born there.
ATTENDANCE. Red Stars' formidable 3-0 win at Bauer this weekend was witnessed by easily the biggest crowd of the day. For only three euros entrance fee the assembled throng really did get their moneys' worth.

COACH NAMES HIS SQUAD FOR THE MATCH VERSUS ARMENIENNE FROM YESTERDAY EVENING
Red Star will be without injured striker Ahmed Hamdani for Sundays' clash at Bauer. A win is vital to Red Star to get their promotion push back on track following a defeat at home to Le Mée and two succesive goalless draws on their travels. Last weeks 5-0 cup drubbing of Saint-Brice showed the strikers the way to their opponents goal, but visitors Arménienne are made of sterner stuff and no doubt will build a wall of white to keep Red Star at bay. UNDER 14s. Details of the Red Star v Wasquehal (0-0) game fom last weekend. Red Star : Dupond, Pérot, Massamba, Philippe, Diallo T., Mholidini, Asshoko, Koffi, Catanas, Touré, Biyengolo. CUP RESULTS. Red Stars' win along with Meauxs' 5-0 were the top scores of the day for the DH clubs. Arménienne, Red Stars' next opponents won their first official game of the season by beating Montrouge 4-2 on their plastic un-fantastic pitch. Sundays' game at Bauer kicks off at 3-30pm CET. AUTOGRAPH ….
LEAGUE TABLES NEW SHIRTS MATTHIEU, a Red Star supporter would like to know when the super green & white stripey shirts go on sale to the general public. The shirts have been ordered and should go on sale within the next couple of weeks. The price will be announced nearer to the date. BRIAN CLOUGH
All at AllezRedStar.com are shocked to hear the news of the death of one of footballs' greatest ever managers, Brian Clough. A man who transformed two Midlands clubs into champions, especially Nottingham Forest, twice European Cup winners in the 1970s. Our condolencies to his family and we just like to say "thank you" to Brian for his enormous contribution to the English game. A man whose name will live forever.

FAIR PLAY. On a sunny day, in the north-west suburbs of Paris, Red Star and Saint-Brice played out an entertaining game in a good spirit, watched by around 150 spectators including a good number from Saint-Ouen. No main stand, but a pitch in beautiful condition, and no athletics track or high fence to spoil the view. Saint-Brices' future appears to be in doubt following relegation from the top level of district football last season, and an appeal against the relegation was recently rejected by the football authorities. Pity. YOUTH TEAM NEWS. Red Stars' under 14s drew with Wasquehal 0-0 at Marville. Elsewhere : Lens - Chantilly 1-1, Racing - Lambersart 1-4, Dunkerque - Paris FC 1-0, Avion - Le Bourget 1-0, Vermelles - Lille 2-1.
In the table, Red Star are fourth with eight points. |

OTHER RESULTS. NEWS FROM AROUND THE GROUNDS. Le Mée Sports and Meaux, the derby of Seine-et-Marne resulted in four sendings off, two from each side. To add to the weekends Hall of Shame, a Lusitanos player also got to test the showers before the rest of his team mates. Worse, a glass bottle was lobbed in the direction of the referees. Normally this receives a heavy punishment from the Ligue de Paris (fine, ground closed...). On a more positive note, the Val d'Oise derby attracted 450 spectators, the best crowd of the day. They saw Cosmo Ermont-Taverny beat Saint-Leu and go to the top of the DH table. |

NATTY NEW KIT
JEAN-LUC GIRARD. « Pity, we deserved to take all four points, we were a bit clumsy (and not unlucky) in front of goal. Against one of the favourites in the league we were superior. We showed the style of play we showed during the pre-season games. This was our best performance since the start of the championship against a very physical team. Satisfied to have played the beautiful game for 90 minutes in a heatwave. » GREGORI SINOBAD. Greg made his debut and gave a faultless performance in midfield, in a defensive role. RED STAR HERE, RED STAR THERE. Despite the heat and other attractions, Red Stars' faithful made up over half of the assembled throng, with a vocal accompaniment to go with it.
DH ROUND UP. Aubervilliers buble burst at home to Sannois Saint-Gratien 0-2. At the bottom Versailles grind out a 0-0 with Brétigny. Morangis-Chilly go top thanks to beating Le Mée Sports 2-1. Orly still experiencing some difficulty with the new season are held by Evry 0-0. Saint-Leu only drew with Lusitanos 2-2. Finally a big surprise as Arménienne slump at home to Meaux 0-3 ! |

TRAINING YESTERDAY
With only Big Franck Gueï still out injured, and Philippe Cuervo on the way back to full fitness, Red Star have a full squad ready for Sundays' game at Taverny. The four photos below show the talented Taïeb Abdallah get a bit of shooting practice against Jonathan Beaujour, last seasons' under 18s 'keeper and son of Stade Bauers' caretaker. Meanwhile, new signing Grégori Sinobad has received clearance to play for Red Star. Note the rather natty shirt worn by Jean-Luc... a sneak preview, perhaps....?
