OUT WE GO !. Red Stars' under 18s missed out on the chance to go to the final of the Coupe de Paris, throwing away Milan-style a two goal lead to eventually lose 3-2 to Les Lilas. Speaking of that match, Saint-Ouen had a representant in the final in the form of Liverpool defender Djimi Traoré; who was actually born in the town.

LUSITANOS - MEAUX : 0-0
EARLY KICK OFFS. For many years now, in the name of fairness, all the DH matches kick off at the same time. However, this weekend saw Morangis-Chilly, still in with a chance of the play-offs place, start their game at Saint-Leu at 1pm CET because home club Saint-Leu have a junior side playing in a national level league which takes priority over the DH and which was scheduled to start at 3pm CET.
Thus, when Sannois-Saint-Gratien reserves took to the field at 3-30 pm CET for their DH game against Le Mée, they already knew the outcome of the match involving their nearest rivals !
Curiously enough, the first team at Sannois-Saint-Gratien were involved in a key game at home to Cherbourg the previous evening, in the National. Sannois and Valence were vying for promotion to Ligue 2. However an electicity cut at Valences' stadium meant that the game at Sannois finished before the game at Valence, therefore Valence knew the outcome of their rivals game and could react accordingly. Rumour is that the Sannois club are to make an official complaint to the league about the affair. When it's in your favour....
STATSTICS. On the last day, despite the goal glut at Brétigny, Red Stars' Aboubacar Tandia failed to get amongst the scorers, and consequently rival Abou Shatrit of Saint-Leu found the net twice thus finishing top scorer with eighteen goals. Red Star have the consolation of being the best strike force by far, with 52 goals, some eleven ahead of nearest rivals Cosmo who finished the season with a flourish. Meaux have the best defence (22 goals conceded) Red Star are fourth (29).
EN ROUTE TO THIONVILLE ?. Sannois Saint-Gratien have made the play offs, and look to be involved with Thionville, as well as a CFA 2 club. All will become clear next Sunday, on the last day of the DH Lorraine championship. Meanwhile Evry, who finished twelfth in the Paris DH will have to wait to see who comes down from the CFA 2 as well as the outcome of the play-offs to see if they will remain in the DH next season. If Choisy-le-Roi or Racing are relegated then the Essonne club will go down.
ELSEWHERE IN THE DH. Lusitanos v Meaux ended at nine versus nine as two from each side received their marching orders. Meanwhile relegated Versailles said goodbye to long-serving coach Thierry Bocquet, who came on for the last few minutes as a substitute at forty-seven years of age. Saint-Leu also have parted with their coach Jean-Marc Sabbatini.
RETURNS … . Yoann Randget, former Red Star man now at Sannois Saint-Gratien (National) was present at Stade Bauers' barbecue on Sunday, along with Enis Saïti. Rumour has it that with the latter being a frequent visitor at Saint-Ouen these days, the ex-Red Star midfielder who played in the CFA as well as various Red Star youth sides could be soon back in a green shirt. Watch this space for details !

MERCI.

Brétigny - Red Star

SEASON OVER. Despite the "After the Lord Mayors' Parade" defeat at Brétigny, Red Star are still DH champions, and thus carry the title with a four-point advantage over nearest rivals Sannois-Saint-Gratien. For the Val d'Oise club, the play-offs loom, with the first game played on June 4th. Promotion for Sannois' reserves might just make up a little for the failure of their first team to win promotion to Ligue 2.
For Red Star, the two week break, and with the important job already done at Bauer in front of their own supporters, the trip to the Essonne could not be really motivating, and the four-three defeat reflected this, against a team already doomed to relegation. Elsewhere in the DH there were goals a-plenty; Cosmo thrashed Evry 4-1, Saint-Leu killed off any remaining hopes of a play-off place for Morangis-Chilly in a 3-1 defeat; Aubervilliers and Orly managed six between them, the visitors scoring four times. Sannois sealed second place despite only drawing 1-1 at home to Le Mée Sports. Elsewhere, Versailles' miserable run continued, going down 2-1 at Arménienne; Saint-Maur was not the place to be to see goals as Lusitanos and Meaux ended goalless.
FINAL LEAGUE TABLE. 1. RED STAR 74 pts, 2. Sannois Saint-Gratien 70 pts, Morangis-Chilly 68 pts, 4. Saint-Leu 67 pts, 5. Cosmo 66 pts, 6. Meaux 66 pts, 7. Le Mée Sports 64 pts, 8. Orly 63 pts, 9. Aubervilliers 57 pts, 10. Arménienne 56 pts, 11. Lusitanos 55 pts, 12. Evry 53 pts, 13. Brétigny 51 pts, 14. Versailles 46 pts.
Red Star are promoted to the CFA 2, Sannois Saint-Gratien go into the play-offs whilst Brétigny and Versailles drop into the DSR. Saint-Denis are promoted from one group of the DSR to the DH, from the other group CA Paris or Le Blanc-Mesnil are at the top, with one game remaining to play on May 29th.
TEAM NEWS Captain Reevis N’Simba sat the game out through suspension, as did Abrahim Tounkara and Alhaji Baldé. The captains' armband passed to veteran Philippe Cuervo, in possibly his last appearance for the club, whilst on the bench youngsters Makan Dabo, Mohamed Aklouche and goalie Salim Benhamou made up the squad.

BUS. The coach graciously proveided by the Saint-Ouen municipality proved to be a huge success. Thanks go to Karim Bouamrane, sports counciller at the Town Hall.

RESERVES. Ahmed Hamdani scored the decisive goal for the reserves in a 1-0 win over Poissy. Red Star have still an outside chance of making the play-offs in their division.
YOUTH NEWS. By beating Vermelles, 2-1, Red Stars' under 14s have taken a step closer to avoiding the drop. There are still two games remaining, however, so nothing is cut & dry yet. Meanwhile the under 18s had a splendid 1-0 win over division leaders ACBB. Red Star thus finish second in their group, and now travel to Les Lilas on Wednesday for a Coupe de Paris tie.
GIANT BARBECUE. Yesterday evening, Red Star FC 93 organised a huge barbecue for all to celebrate promotion. The event was a success, the rain held off long enough and a good time was had by all. Our thanks go to all who organised this great event ! (See our Special Photo Feature).

EVRY 1 BRETIGNY 0 (1-0). Goal : M’Bélizi (11). Watched by a representant of Red Star, Evry booked their place in next years' DH with an early goal against their neighbours. Thus, Arménienne and Lusitanos have avoided the drop without kicking a ball.

BRETIGNY Saint-Ouen town council have lais on a special bus for Red Star supporters wisihng to make the fairly-long trip to Brétigny on Sunday May 22nd. The bus leaves from Stade Bauer at 1pm CET. Interested ? If so, mail us at : john@allezredstar.com, by calling the club at +33 1 40 11 04 26 or by popping into Stade Bauer during office hours.
MESSAGES. The messages are pouring into AllezRedStar.com. Ex-coach Pierre Repellini, former player Mickaël Tacalfred, club historian and former player Pierre Laporte as well as many supporters and friends around the world have all sent us their congratulations. This mail is from Roger in the UK, present at Sundays' historic game: I have been on the Red Star site and saw your comments thanking me and Mishi for travelling from Sunday. Well thank you to you and all the others at Red Star who have made us so welcome once again. I had a thoroughly enjoyable time in Paris but seeing Red Star pick up the championship was the icing on the cake. I can´t help but think back to the day I saw Red Star in the athletics track at St Denis. 150 people rattling around a huge ground with absolutely no atmosphere, frankly the club looked to be on its knees. It was a genuine pleasure to see Red Star back home in front of a decent and enthusiastic crowd. All involved in the revival deserve huge credit for not allowing a famous old name to slip away. I just hope it serves as an example to the Hamlet (Dulwich - ed) who are on their own downward spiral in many ways.
I´ll certainly be back at some point next season and I know Mishi will as well. I´ll be scouring the fixture list for a nice weekend, either in Paris or away. Tell them to hurry up and get back to the National though please, their looks to be some nice weekend trips in that Division.
Roger.
Cheers, Roger, it was a pleasure to see you both at Bauer, and it is 100% sure that Dulwich Hamlet will have played its part in the history of Red Star FC 93. One could say that the supporters' game against Dulwich was the turning point in the season; prior to that, Red Star had lost away miserably at Lusitanos and promotion appeared to have been seriously compromised; then came the goal rout against Aubervilliers (witnessed by Hamlets' fans) and from then on the season really took off.
TRANSFER RUMOURS. Red Stars' fantastic championship success inevitably means that the rumour mill kicks into action, with the spotlight on the youngsters, the big clubs step in and talk abounds of contacts with our players. Aboubacar Tandia and Jimmy Hamme were invited to play in a friendly with Racing (National), but by all means the game was not a success. Incidentally, the noise from Colombes is that Racings' players haven't been paid for two months and that promotion to L2 appears now to be definitely out of the question. Elsewhere, Vincent Fourneuf is rumoured to have been solicited by Pau, whilst there is also talk of Azzedine Benmesmoudi and Bourama Ouattara leaving. This is countered by news that the excellent Enis Saïti, Salah Mahdjoub (Les Lilas, CFA 2) and Fabien Valéri (Choisy-le-Roi, CFA 2), all former Red Star players could be on the road back to Stade Bauer. The Summer break promises to be interesting, to say the least. AllezRedStar.com will of course be the first to bring you all the news as it happens.
AUBERVILLIERS - MEAUX. The Ligue de Paris have confirmed that following appeal, their decision still stands concering this DH match which was postponed following a pre-match brawl involving players from bith clubs. The match will not be replayed. Elsewhere in the DH, Orlys' coach Samuel Lobé has stepped down after guiding the club to safety following a disastrous start to the campaign.

Updated 12th May 2005

WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS !. By beating Evry 2-0, Red Star have finally achieved the first step in the long march back to the top flight of French football. Many people say that promotion from what is the sixth level of football in the hexagone is one of the hardest, and to add to this Red Star hit rock bottom before their climb back. Two years ago, back in May 2003 things were at rock bottom - the club was on the point of disappearing from the footballing map. The old regime had succeded in dragging this once proud club into the doldrums. Finally with the arrival of a new team of directors Red Star built from scratch, with a dedicated bunch of young players aided by the experience of Phil Cuervo and Yann Bell, a championship winning outfit.
This really was a day to remember. A mixture of nerves, until Tandia scored the first, then the relief of the second goal before the joy and tears at the final whistle. After six years of not having much to sing about, Red Star are back. Watched by eight hundred supporters, Reevis N'Simba has led his charges into the CFA 2.
What a memorable eight days ! Firstly the classy win over fellow promotion rivals Meaux, then the last-gasp winner against another contender Le Mée. At the same time Sannois Saint-Gratiens' faux-pas at home to Morangis meant that four days later Red Star just had to beat Evry at home in front of their own supporters to real their goal. Marvellous marvellous marvellous - thank you Red Star !

By beating Arménienne, Sannois Saint-Gratien sneak into second place ahead of Morangis-Chilly. At the bottom Versailles will be playing DSR football next season. The other place will be contested by Arménienne, Evry & Brétigny.

MESSAGES. From all over the world to celebrate Red Star on their magnificent achievement: from Hungary, Andorra, New York, England, Cuba (via Le Mans !) Thanks to you all for your messages !
UNDER 18s. Red Stars' last hopes of winning the under 18s championship disappeared in a 1-0 defeat against Sannois Saint-Gratien 0-1. The youngsters now are focussed on the Coupe de Paris, where they must play Versailles in the quarter finals. The under 14s have a tight finisht to the season after losing 1-2 against Dunkerque. Currently eighth, a victory in the next game against Vermelles is crucial.
THE DULWICH FACTOR …. From the UK, Mishi, organiser of the friendly match earlier in the season and Roger, popped across the Channel for the game (unbeknown to AllezRedStar.com !). Another nice surprise to add to a memorable day.

THE MOMENT OF TRUTH

Le Mée - Red Star
Bourama Ouattara crosses for Jimmy Hamme to fire home Red Stars' late winner at Le Mée

ALMOST THERE. Red Star are now just one win away from promtion to the CFA2 following a late, late winner at Le Mée on Bank Holiday Thursday. Jimmy Hammes' goal, as the seconds were ticking down, means that Red Star just have to beat either Evry on Sunday at Bauer or Brétigny away in two weeks' time to seal the championship.
AllezRedStar.com had spies out at the Stade Michel-Hidalgo in Saint-Gratien where two of Red Stars' closest rivals were doing battle. After eight long minutes of stoppage time, Morangis Chilly, third, beat second-placed Entente Sannois-Saint-Gratien 2-1. Biggest surprise at Taverny where one-time leaders Meaux slumped to a 5-0 drubbing at the hands of Cosmo.

PROMOTION ISSUES. Three games left and still nothing is sorted, althoug the field is starting to string out a little. Red Star have a two point advantage over Sannois Saint-Gratien who appear to be Red Stars' most serious adversery. However, Morangis-Chilly and Meaux three and four points behind are still not out of it yet. Le Mée Sports are six points adrift and must be hoping to benefit by beating Red Star on Thursday. Sannois Saint-Gratien fielded several first team players in a hard-fought 2-1 win at Orly. Morangis-Chilly slumped at home 1-2 against relegation-battlers Evry. Next up for them is a trip to Sannois Saint-Gratien. Watched by Jean-Luc Girard, Arménienne and Le Mée drew 1-1. AllezRedStar.com had spies out at Saint-Leu where Brétigny were the visitors. With only two minutes remaining and the scores level at 2-2, Saint-Leu goalkeeper Bruno Miriel made a blunder in advancing too far at a Brétigny free kick, only to watch the ball drift over his head into the goal. The win makes things very tight at the wrong end of the table, but Versailles lost again 3-4 at home to Cosmo. LATER THIS WEEK. The last coupld of weeks have been hectic for Red Star, what with the win against Lusitanos, the Coupe de Paris in midweek and the game against Meaux … this continues on Thursday with the trip to Le Mée (3-30pm CET), Stade Pierre de Coubertin, 221 avenue du Vercors in Le Mée-sur-Seine; then on Sunday Evry are the visitors.
FLARES. Someone set off a smoke flare just after the second Red Star goal. Note that this is illegal, and it means that the club will be duly fined. The fourth official has compiled a report on the game. Other than that, the crosd behaved impeccably, no problems to report.
UNDER 18s Red Stars' under 18s were handed a 3-0 victory without even kicking a ball. Opponents Montgeron devclared forfait Friday and so Red Star were awarded the game by default. David Giguets' men are back in action in the Coupe de Paris against Versailles, Wednesday May 11th, 8pm CET Stade Bauer.
