SNOW FUN. In the space of thirty hours, Red Star players supporters and directors had made the trip to Saint-Quentin, returned back to Saint-Ouen, made a second trip to Saint-Quentin, won a game of football played in conditions more suitable for water polo before making the trip back to Saint-Ouen. ALL THE SCORES FROM THE CFA 2 RED STAR LEADERS. Not only the league table but also the top scorers with 21 goals, the best defence (3 goals conceded) and the top scorers (Azzedine Benmesmoudi & Lassana Doumbya with 7 each).
CFA 2 ON THE WEB. Slowly but surely the CFA 2 clubs are discovering the web : Cambrai and Avion are there, as well as the reserve teams of Amiens, Valenciennes, Le Havre, Rouen and Entente SSG). Now Saint-Quentin are in the process of creating a site, ready for the start of of 2006. Incidentally, the people at Saint-Quentin actually thought that we get paid for doing AllezRedStar.com ! No - we're unpaid volunteers... even the cost of the cyberspace rent comes out of our own pockets ! Such is life in the lower levels of football. MEETING. There is a public meeting organised by the Collectif on Saturday 3rd December before the Amiens game at Stade Bauer. It starts at 2pm CET and a buffet is available. Please contact amisredstar@voila.fr or +33 6 20 71 93 69 (Olivier HERCY) / +33 6 14 94 09 19 (Laurent VIRLOUVET) / +33 1 40 11 47 03 (Gilles CUTULIC) / +33 6 61 85 66 81 (Slim DERBALI).
GEORGIE. I know the possibly the only link is that he wore a green shirt on occasions and not the Red Star one, but I couldn't let the death of one of my heros pass without a word on AllezRedStar.com. I was lucky to see him in action once, at Elland Road for a Leeds v Manchester United game back in the seventies. The stadium was packed, we managed to get a place on the old Lowfields Road terrace, and George played a blinder. Leeds were a tough outfit in those days (Bremner, Charlton, Hunter & Giles didn't let much get past) but George was simply another level. My Mother thought he was the bees knees, it's a part of my childhood gone. To me the greatest British footballer ever.

SAINT-QUENTIN v RED STAR PREVIEW. Red Star will travel the ninety odd miles to Saint-Quentin to face one of their rivals for the title. Red Star have a four point lead and a win would take them seven points clear wheras a defeat would mean that the men in red & white strips would be just one point behind. Red Star will be without ace striker Azzedine Benmesmoudi, suspended for one game. The game will be officiated by Emmanuel Caron assisted by Dominique Cacelle & Jérôme Martin
VINCENT FOURNEUF. Vincent Fourneuf is back in light training and for the moment is concentrating on jogging. RED STAR ON THE ISLAND OF REUNION. Deep in the southern part of the Indian Ocean, not too far from Mauritius and the coast of Madagascar lies the French island of Réunion. The island has its own football competitions, and teams from the top flight (the Division d'Honneur) compete in the Coupe de France. There is also a club called Red Star, who play in one of the lower divisions. Here are two photos of their stadium taken a couple of weeks ago.
Réunion is famous for sitting on an active volcano, which was erupting until the end of October. Every year there is a lava flow which cuts the routes in the south-east of the island. It is possible to walk to the top of the volcano - your editorial team undertook the arduous 13km round trip and posed for a photo at the top:

RED STAR OUT OF COUPE DE PARIS. Red Star slipped out of the Coupe de Paris yesterday following a 1-0 defeat at Sucy-en-Brie. Apparently Red Star, with a team made up of fringe players, dominated affairs without making any inroads. The line-up was as follows: Mama, Tounkara, Béhiche, Pages, Vitalien, Budoc, Sinobad, Davidson, Aklouche, Gueï, Ghili. Subs : Ba, Diawara et Chamma. MESSAGE RECEIVED. Andreas, one of our friends from Germany who visited Stade Bauer on the way to the recent France - Germany international at the Stade de France, has kindly left us this message on our guestbook. Thanks to Andreas and we hope that he will back to see Red Star very soon ! |

SPOT THE FOUL. Here's a little bit of detective work for you. During the game against Evreux, Azzedine Benmesmoudi had a perfectly legal goal ruled out by the referees' whistle. Take a look at the following video and tell us just when the offense occurred... we've studied it for ages and we haven't the foggiest idea. |

DISAPPOINTED. The reaction of coach Jean-Luc Girard to the cup sixth round defeat at the hands of Arménienne. Girard said that his team failed to live up to the standards expected of a CFA 2 leader. A poor first half and wasted second half chances summed up the day. Meanwhile, the visitors' coach Thierry Bocquet was delighted with the win which could see the club from Issy paired with a second division club. Bocquet, a self-confessed AllezRedStar.com fanatic was with Versailles last season and has turned the fortunes of Arménienne around, with nine straight wins in cup & championship games. So once again Red Star have failed to pass the sixth round stage of the competition. Realistically the club have no chance of winning the trophy whilst still in the CFA, but a long run could have been possible, and with it the prestige. So, it's back to the championship and a rather tricky trip next weekend to Normandy to play Rouen. This game kicks off at 3pm CET on Sunday 6th November at the Stade Robert Diochon, Boulevard des Canadiens in Petit Quevilly.
Watched by almost five hundred spectators, not bad for a long weekend (Tuesday is a Bank Holiday and many people have taken Monday off as well), Red Star brought back Kaba Diomande and Abrahim Tounkara in defence, and on, the subs bench youngster Loïc Ghili whi featured several times last season in the Coupe de Paris. Elsewhere, Ludovic Pages and Grégori Sinobad (both injured) and Morad Eythrib (rested) were spectators at the game. COUPE GAMBARDELLA The grim weeke,d continues with the result of the Gambardella Cup match where Villemomble pasted Red Stars' under 18s 6-1 |
