CHAMPIONS !. Red Star ground out an end-of-season 1-0 win at Sannois on Saturday evening, thanks to a Vincent Fourneuf penalty. Entente dominated for large periods of the game but once again Yann Bell was in fine form and the Entente strikers lacked the cutting edge to make a difference. At the end of the game the supporters gathered at the rear of the main stand to greet their heros, and the news came, thanks to AllezRedStar.coms' editorial team, that Valenciennes had held leaders Le Havre reserves to a 1-1 draw, meaning that Red Star were champions on head-to-head goal difference. Incidentally, this is the second time in Red Stars' history that they have been crowned CFA2 champions; in 2000-2001, coached by former favourite Christophe Fiatte, Red Stars' reserve team were hnoured by the title. At the same time Red Stars' first team, coached by Jean-Luc Girard slumped from the National to be relegated to the CFA. UNDER 18s. With a goalless draw against Brétigny, Red Stars' under 18s coached by Eric Santamaria confirmed their survival in the DH. This capped off a fine run of nine games unbeaten. Bravo ! |

LAST WEEK OF THE CFA 2. Red Star have already booked their place in the sun, or the CFA at least, but there still remains one game to play in the CFA 2 this coming weekend. At the top, Red Star could be crowned champions if they beat Entente Sannois Saint-Gratien away and if Le Havre fail to beat Valenciennes on their travels. Just behind, Saint-Quentin have their own destinies in their hands and must beat Saint-Omer to have a chance of being one of the top "second-placed" teams in the CFA 2. THE TABLE. 1. LE HAVRE 85 pts, 2. RED STAR 83 pts, 3.Saint-Quentin 79 pts, 4. Oissel 75 pts, 5. Arras 74 pts, 6. Entente 72 pts, 7. Valenciennes 70 pts, 8. Cambrai 69 pts, 9. Amiens 69 pts, 10. RED STAR PROMOTED ! After an absence of four years, Red Star are back in the CFA, the fourth level of French football. Saturdays' 2-1 win over Valenciennes reserves allied to Saint-Quentins' failure to beat Arras sealed their ticket to the CFA. Watched by a big crowd, Red Star took command of the game from the start, but had to be patient until the half hour mark when they were awarded a free kick in a good position. Taïeb Abdallahs' floating kick beat Martinez in the visitors' goal to put on Red Star foot into the CFA. Four minutes later Benmesmoudi put his striking partner Doumbya through, and he lobbed the ball delightfully over the Valenciennes' goalie to double the advantage. The second half saw Red Star command the game without actually scoring, but the copy book was blotted by a late penalty awarded to the visitors which Danset converted to reduce arrears. The final whistle blew, Red Star celebrated their win but it was only when the news filtered through that Arras had held Saint-Quentin to a goal-less draw that the party could really begin.
Don't forget that on June 3rd Red Star are holding a giant barbecue at Stade Bauer to celebrate the promotion. Contact +33 1 40 11 04 26. Price of the event is five euros, including food, water and or wine). After Saturdays' game, it was the turn of the Collectif des Amis du Red Star to organise an end-of-season paty.
WEEK 29 RESULTS. Saint-Quentin are at home to Saint-Omer next week, where a win will most likely boook their place in the CFA with Red Star. UNDER 18S. Red Stars Under 18s beat Lilas 2-0 away on Sunday, thus taking a giant step towards safety from relegation. Since arriving at the helm, coach Eric Santamaria has put together a run of seven games undefeated. At Les Lilas, Red Star lined up as follows : BEDDAF, MBOMA, HAGUY (cap.), FENEUILLE, ZORGANI, MAKKRAT, BOURAMEUR, ZITOUNI, DIABO, ABRIOUX, LETTAT, DOUMBIA, PENSSEDENT. RESERVES. Red Stars' second XI had to thank Aklouche for their equaliser in a 1-1 draw at Levalllois. But La Colombiennes' surprise win at Paris SG means that Red Star will have to beat ACBB and hope that their rivals slip up to avoid the drop. |

VALENCIENNES. Valenciennes appear to have abandoned any hope of promotion to the CFA with the result that their team is largely made up of youngsters hopeful of making progress in the ranks of the club whos first team is now officially back in the top flight. The professionals are now enjoying their Summer break as the youngsters "man the fort". Red Star will still have to be wary, however as one or two bright prospects will be on show in red shirts at Bauer on Saturday. WEEK-END SCORES ROUND-UP PARTY. Red Star could seal promotion in front of their home fans if they beat Valenciennes and Saint-Quentin fail to beat Arras.

CUTTING IT A BIT FINE. Against Saint-Quentin it was the ninety-third minute; against Amiens it was the ninety first minute; on Saturday at a rainy Bauer Red Star mananged to beat their opponents in regulation time, but only by one minute ! Once again it was Davidson Charles, substitute, who broke Chantillys' hearts with his eighty-ninth minute winner following a mazy run through a tired visitors' defence. CFA 2 results SHIRTY. Chantilly normally play in green and turned up at Bauer with no change kit. So Red Star lent them the ancient blue kit that Red Star once wore at Chantilly in a similar situation in 2003. At that time Nabile Yessad and Vincent Fourneuf wore the same blue shirts and Red Star slumped to a 4-0 defeat; Fourneuf didn't even last ten minutes on the pitch before receiving his marching orders. On that day Devipart and Dewolf were in the Chantilly line-up and on Saturday they were the once to have that losing feeling in the same blue shirts.
IN GOALS. Chantillys young goalkeeper Julien Robustelli hasn't yet celebrated his eighteenth birthday, but is already well-known at Red Star, having played for both the Under 14s and the under 15s at Red Star. Chantilly have blooded the youngster with an eye on the squad for next seasons' DH campaign.
HERO
TOURNOI DE CAHORS. Red Stars youngsters were invoted to take part in a tournament in the south in Cahors, near the home of long-term Red Star fan Alex. Not only did he pop along to encourage the youngsters, but top bloke Alex provided the food for the youngsters and their entourage. He sent us a couple of photos of the event for site. Cheers, Alex !
BAUER GETS A FACELIFT. Work has already started on the 1975-constructed stand behind the goal at Bauer in order to bring it up to the standards required for the CFA.
SAD NEWS. We have recently heard of the death of the brother of Red Stars' SASP vice-president Benoît Delanoé in a plane crash. To Benoît and his family AllezRedStar.com express our sincerecst condolencies.

LAST GASP WINNER.
Last week it was the third minute of stoppage time, this week the first - Red Star are leaving things late at the moment in their quest for promotion. Davidsons' winner proved to be vital, as nearest rivals Saint-Quentin turned a 1-0 deficit against league leaders Le Havre into a 2-1 victory. Meanwhile, Valenciennes, who must have been nursing a hangover following their first XIs' promotion to the top flight slumped 1-0 at home to fast-improving Oissel. This leaves both Red Star and Saint-Quentin with a five point advantage over Valenciennes and Oissel. THE NEWS IN PHOTOS.
OTHER RED STAR RESULTS. Red Stars' under 18s coached by Eric Santamaria held leaders Noisy-le-Sec to a 1-1 draw, going 1-0 in front only to be pegged back from the penalty spot. Meanwhile Red Stars' reserves slumped 2-0 at Paris Saint-Germain. Red Stars' indoor footballers recorded a fine 6 - 2 win against Drancy
