TRAINING FOR THIS WEEK. Red Stars' schedule for this week is as follows:
- Monday 27th November : 7pm CET
- Tuesday 28th November : 10am CET & 7pm CET
- Wednesday 29th November : 7pm CET
- Thursday 30th November : rest day
- Friday 1st December : 7pm CET
- Saturday 2nd December 6pm CET, match at Pacy-sur-Eure
- Sunday 3rd December : warm-down
Before last nights' training session, club president Bruno Davoine spoke to the players & coaching staff, making the point about what is expected of them in the coming month. Cédric Rogin was present, but the injured quartet of Benmesmoudi, Berthier, Da Costa & Fabiano were absent. On the injury frnt, some good news is that both Bilal Hammami and Khaled Kemas are back in training. Note also that new recruits Abdoulaye Diawara and Bédi Buval are also available for selection on Saturday. Facing Red Star at Pacy might be old boys Arthur Gomis, Camille Oponga and Nicolas Mirza. The latter was a team mate of Abdoulaye Diawara and Kaba Diomande in the excellent side that made the quarter finals of the COupe Gambardella back in 2001, where they were eventually eliminated by Stade Rennais.

A decision as to the outcome of the game will be taken this week.

BAUER : FUTURE GRIM ?. The future of Red Stars' home since 1910, Stade Bauer (or Stade de Paris) hangs in the balance. League regulations stipluate that clubs at Red Stars' level must have two sets of dressing rooms (somewhat ridiculous !) and unless work is undertaken to improve the old stadium in Saint-Ouen, then the current temporary exemption which allows Red Star to play their home games "at home" will expire on November 30th. Technically President Bruno Davoines' club could be out on the street !
Already work is underway to remove the dangerous roof of the condemned stand opposite the main stand (see photo), but Saint-Ouen Councils' sports director Denis Ledemé said that the rest of the work for the dressing rooms and the hole that suddenly opened up in the main stand resulting in the partial closure of the middle section would only start in mid-December. The roof, as well as being in poor shape also contains asbestos and special handling is required in its removal. Meanwhile, the word is that the town want to develop the area around the old docks in Saint-Ouen, an area somewhat derelict and in need of attention. Talk is of a sporting facility possibly incorporating a new stadium for Red Star. However, the Council does not own the land in question, so the subject is somewhat a grey area. Traditionalists say that Red Star have to stay in rue Bauer, but development of the old ground would be a rather difficult task.

RED STAR v CS MOULE Between one hundred and fifty and two hundred people turned out for yesterday evenings' friendly game at Bauer against Guadaloupe side CS Moule. The game ended in a one-nil win for Red Star, the goal coming through Reevis N'Simba in the second half. CS Moule used the game as preparation for their Coupe de France tie against Clermont at Colombes this weekend. New recruits Mickaël Marquet and Bédi Buval started the game, whilst Abdoulaye Diawara came on during the second half.

YANNICK BERTHIER, SEASON OVER Red Stars' midfielder Yannick Berthier has had the results of the test carried out on his njured right knee, and it is not good news - he will undergo surgery next week, and for him the season is over.

IN TROUBLE Red Star have been fined 1000 euros for the incidents at Bois-Guillaume where supporters let off fumigènes at the game. For their part, the Normandy club were fined 200 euros for not having adequate security measures in their ground. Now Red Star will expect the worse after the incidents at Villemomble - possible loss of points are being evoked. Stupid and unnecessary.

DISAPPOINTEMENT. Red Stars supporters streamed out of Stade Bauer on Saturday evening after seeing their team fail to score yet again in a disappointing goalless draw with an unimaginative Moissy-Cramayel outfit. On the positive side, that makes it five games without defeat for Red Star, but on the negative side, they haven't won a league game since August and since than have only scored four times, half of these coming in the game against Rennes. In fact, this game was nearly lost, only the last-gasp clearance from Christophe Haguy on his own goal line saving the points for Red Star.
Red Stars' injury list worsens, as lively winger Yannick Berthier limped out of the action close to the end with a serious knee injury He will undergo tests shortly to ascertain the seriousness of the injury and how long he will be out of the game.
Red Star are not involved in the Coupe de France next weekend, but on Wednesday evening there is a friendly arranged against CS Moule from the Caribbean island of Guadeloupe. The game kicks off at 7pm CET and will serve as a test for the team that are due to play Clermont in the Coupe de France at Colombes on Saturday.

RESERVES LOSE Red Stars' reserves went down 2-1 at home to Les Lilas reserves yesterday. Despite opening the scoring through Rémy Bouafia, the visitors hit back twice following Red Star players losing posession. Next game is at Sarcelles, where Red Star will be hoping to make up some of the two points deficit they now have behind leaders La Colombienne. Meanwhile the third XI won 3-1 and the indoor footballers beat Dugny 3-1.

HONOURABLE DRAW. Red Star came away with a draw from their trip to league leaders Villmomble Sports after a bruising game. Despite some very physical play from the hosts, Red Stars' already dire injury list was not extended although defender Eugène Kangulungu became the latest Red Star player to receive a red card and will miss at least the home game against Moissy-Cramayel next weekend. Red Star did have chances to win the game but some indifferent finishing let them down. Despite limping off at the end of the game, influential midfielder Yannick Berthiers' injury turned out to be less serious than was initially thought.

Off the pitch however, things were once again far from rosy and Red Star could be in trouble after the behavious of some of the supporters. During the game a rocket was set off from the stand and narrowly missed defender Jose N'Seke. At the final whistle as the players trouped off the pitch, a Villemomble player made a rude hand gesture to our photographer and made his way to the tunnel under a hail of abuse from Red Stars' fans. A bottle and a can were launched from the stand, landing on the running track. The FFF take a dim view of pyrotechnics, coming shortly after the incident during a L1 match between Nice & Marseille when a Nice fireman received serious burns to his hand whilst trying to remove a fumligène that had been thrown by a Marseille supporter. Since this incident OM will have to play one home game behind closed doors, a risk Red Star have to face or maybe even the loss of points.

On hand at the game were the injured trio of Nicolas Fabiano, Grégory Lefort and Geoffroy Da Costa. Fabiano, injured at Bois Guillaume will appeal at the decision taken by the FFF disciplinary commitee that his agressor has received an eight match ban following the injury.

Updated 10th November 2006

COMING UP THIS WEEKEND.. Red Star make their shortest away trip of the season on Saturday evening to play "9-3" neighbours and current league leaders Villemomble Sports. With Eric Lacomat and Badougou Sambague both out suspended and Azzedine Benmesmoudi, Khaled Kemas, Nicolas Fabiano, Geoffroy Da Costa and Bilal Hammami still sidelined through injury Red Star might struggle against a formidable opponent. On the positive side striker Grégory Lefort should be back in training today and defender Kaba Diomande has already trained as of this Wednesday.
CFA FIXTURES (ROUND 12)
Dieppe - Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois
Plabennec - Bois-Guillaume
Rennes B - Auxerre B
Moissy-Cramayel - Vitré
Pacy-sur-Eure - Paris SG B
Quevilly - Rouen
Concarneau - Guingamp B
Poissy - Pontivy
VILLEMOMBLE - RED STAR FC 93
LEAGUE TABLE 1. VILLEMOMBLE 37 pts, 2. Auxerre 33 pts, 3. Bois-Guillaume 33 pts, 4. Pacy-sur-Eure 30 pts, 5. Moissy-Cramayel 29 pts, 6. Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois 27 pts, 7. Guingamp 27 pts, 8. Quevilly 18 pts.
ON THE BOX Note that should Rouen lose at Quevilly this weekend and the other results go against them, then the Normands, one of the pre-season hot favourites for the title could conceivably find themselves bottom of the league. This is appalling for a club with a (relatively) huge budget and whom have recently invested in a club television project, « FCR TV », which has cost 350 000 euros to set up and will cost around 250 000 euros to run each year. Other than OM, Lyon, Saint-Etienne and Lens, no other L 1 club has its own TV station !
BIG GAME Red Stars' reserves travel to third placed Le Plessis Robinson, on the same number of points with Red Star and one point behind leaders La Colombienne. Both sides are unbeaten and a couple of seasons ago Red Stars' first XI beat Le Plessis Robinson in a Coupe de Paris game. Coach David Giguet will have his men charged up for their first away trip of the season after a run of five home fixtures.

COUPE DE FRANCE … COUPE DE L’ESSONNE  Just for the record, had Red Star beaten Palaiseau in the Coupe de France last weekend, they would have earned another tricky trip to Fleury-Mérogis, whom they lost to in the same competition two season ago after a penalty shoot-out. Palaiseau obviously disappointed, as they were hoping to welcome a L2 club.

Updated 6th November 2006

COUPE DE FRANCE. As we mentioned in our build-up to the game, Palaiseau away in the Coupe de France did turn out to be a banana skin for Red Star. After two hours of football Bruno Naidons' men were unable to break down a resolute home defence and the negative tactics employed by Palaiseau resulted in the game going to a penalty shoot-out. As is often the case it was the team with the least intention to win the game in normal time that ran out winners in the lottery of penalties.

Pourtant, Nabile Yessad avait bien lancé le Red Star, dans la séance de tirs au but

Red Stars' Eugène Kangulungu missed his penalty, as did a Palaiseau player before it was down to youngster Bangaliy Dabo to take his sides' sixth penalty. Dabo, who played for the under 18s last season with one appearance in the infamous Evreux match with the fist XI to his name, had only just stepped on to the pitch as a late substitute. Unfortunately his spot kick sailed high over the bar, and Palaiseau took advantage to ram home their sixth spot kick and send their fans delirious.

CLAUDE REMY Claude Rémy, long-time supporter of Red Star has recently passed away, aged fifty two after a long illness. Claude latterly lived in the north of France, but made several visits to local grounds when Red Star played in the CFA 2 last season. Our sincerest sympathies to his family and friends.

ONE IN, ONE OUT Kamel Bengougam has decided to leave Red Star due to work commitments. He has joined DH club Saint-Denis.

Meanwhile, arriving at Red Star is young striker Bedi Buval, born 16th June 1986 in Domont (95). Bedi learned his trade as an apprentice with Nancy before joining Bolton Wanderers (UK). A regular with the reserves, his contract was not renewed after a knee injury, and out of contract was free to sign for Red Star. He should very quickly be available for selection.
