RED STAR v CS MOULE Between one hundred and fifty and two hundred people turned out for yesterday evenings' friendly game at Bauer against Guadaloupe side CS Moule. The game ended in a one-nil win for Red Star, the goal coming through Reevis N'Simba in the second half. CS Moule used the game as preparation for their Coupe de France tie against Clermont at Colombes this weekend. New recruits Mickaël Marquet and Bédi Buval started the game, whilst Abdoulaye Diawara came on during the second half.
YANNICK BERTHIER, SEASON OVER Red Stars' midfielder Yannick Berthier has had the results of the test carried out on his njured right knee, and it is not good news - he will undergo surgery next week, and for him the season is over.
IN TROUBLE Red Star have been fined 1000 euros for the incidents at Bois-Guillaume where supporters let off fumigènes at the game. For their part, the Normandy club were fined 200 euros for not having adequate security measures in their ground. Now Red Star will expect the worse after the incidents at Villemomble - possible loss of points are being evoked. Stupid and unnecessary.

DISAPPOINTEMENT. Red Stars supporters streamed out of Stade Bauer on Saturday evening after seeing their team fail to score yet again in a disappointing goalless draw with an unimaginative Moissy-Cramayel outfit. On the positive side, that makes it five games without defeat for Red Star, but on the negative side, they haven't won a league game since August and since than have only scored four times, half of these coming in the game against Rennes. In fact, this game was nearly lost, only the last-gasp clearance from Christophe Haguy on his own goal line saving the points for Red Star. CFA RESULTS

HONOURABLE DRAW. Red Star came away with a draw from their trip to league leaders Villmomble Sports after a bruising game. Despite some very physical play from the hosts, Red Stars' already dire injury list was not extended although defender Eugène Kangulungu became the latest Red Star player to receive a red card and will miss at least the home game against Moissy-Cramayel next weekend. Red Star did have chances to win the game but some indifferent finishing let them down. Despite limping off at the end of the game, influential midfielder Yannick Berthiers' injury turned out to be less serious than was initially thought.
Off the pitch however, things were once again far from rosy and Red Star could be in trouble after the behavious of some of the supporters. During the game a rocket was set off from the stand and narrowly missed defender Jose N'Seke. At the final whistle as the players trouped off the pitch, a Villemomble player made a rude hand gesture to our photographer and made his way to the tunnel under a hail of abuse from Red Stars' fans. A bottle and a can were launched from the stand, landing on the running track. The FFF take a dim view of pyrotechnics, coming shortly after the incident during a L1 match between Nice & Marseille when a Nice fireman received serious burns to his hand whilst trying to remove a fumligène that had been thrown by a Marseille supporter. Since this incident OM will have to play one home game behind closed doors, a risk Red Star have to face or maybe even the loss of points.
On hand at the game were the injured trio of Nicolas Fabiano, Grégory Lefort and Geoffroy Da Costa. Fabiano, injured at Bois Guillaume will appeal at the decision taken by the FFF disciplinary commitee that his agressor has received an eight match ban following the injury. |

COMING UP THIS WEEKEND.. Red Star make their shortest away trip of the season on Saturday evening to play "9-3" neighbours and current league leaders Villemomble Sports. With Eric Lacomat and Badougou Sambague both out suspended and Azzedine Benmesmoudi, Khaled Kemas, Nicolas Fabiano, Geoffroy Da Costa and Bilal Hammami still sidelined through injury Red Star might struggle against a formidable opponent. On the positive side striker Grégory Lefort should be back in training today and defender Kaba Diomande has already trained as of this Wednesday. OTHER RED STAR GAMES THIS WEEK-END

COUPE DE FRANCE. As we mentioned in our build-up to the game, Palaiseau away in the Coupe de France did turn out to be a banana skin for Red Star. After two hours of football Bruno Naidons' men were unable to break down a resolute home defence and the negative tactics employed by Palaiseau resulted in the game going to a penalty shoot-out. As is often the case it was the team with the least intention to win the game in normal time that ran out winners in the lottery of penalties. Red Stars' Eugène Kangulungu missed his penalty, as did a Palaiseau player before it was down to youngster
Bangaliy Dabo to take his sides' sixth penalty. Dabo, who played for the under 18s last season with one appearance in the infamous Evreux match with the fist XI to his name, had only just stepped on to the pitch as a late substitute. Unfortunately his spot kick sailed high over the bar, and Palaiseau took advantage to ram home their sixth spot kick and send their fans delirious.
CLAUDE REMY Claude Rémy, long-time supporter of Red Star has recently passed away, aged fifty two after a long illness. Claude latterly lived in the north of France, but made several visits to local grounds when Red Star played in the CFA 2 last season. Our sincerest sympathies to his family and friends.
ONE IN, ONE OUT Kamel Bengougam has decided to leave Red Star due to work commitments. He has joined DH club Saint-Denis.
Meanwhile, arriving at Red Star is young striker Bedi Buval, born 16th June 1986 in Domont (95). Bedi learned his trade as an apprentice with Nancy before joining Bolton Wanderers (UK). A regular with the reserves, his contract was not renewed after a knee injury, and out of contract was free to sign for Red Star. He should very quickly be available for selection.
