THIRD DEFEAT IN A ROW Red Star slumped to their third successive defeat at the hands of Pontivy on Saturday where a late goal conceded from a counter-attack where Red Star had dominated the encounter proved to be decisive. Earlier this season Red Star had staged a second half recovery to come from being one goal behind to thrash Pontivy 5-1 at Bauer and this time, as was the case at Guingamp a couple of weeks ago, revenge was in the air. With Kemas out injured, in came Bedi Buval and Moussa Ouattara was relegated to the subs bench, leaving his place to Reevis N‘Simba. Ibrahim Tounkara came in for the suspended Eugène Kangulungu. The goal came two minutes from time, whereas prior to that Yoann Djidonou was not troubled during the game. A combination of bad luck and some poor finishing meant that for the second game running Red Stars' forwards failed to find the oppositions' net. Elsewhere, Red Stars' reserves game at Noisy-le-Sec was called off due to a waterlogged pitch and untroubled by the climatic conditions, Red Stars' indoor footballers continued their good run with a 5-0 win over Bagnolet. |

RED STAR SLUMP Red Star slumped to their second consecutive defeat, the first of the season at Bauer against Rouen. One goal following an awful defensive error proved to be enough as the visitors held on for the best part of an hour to the win. Some grim faces at the end of the game - Red Star now face a long battle if they are to maintain their place in the CFA for next season. At the bottom of the table PSG carry on their recent good form whereas at the top Villemomble lost at home to Poissy who therefore record their sixth straight victory. Bois-Guillaume maintain the pressure on the long-time leaders. Incidentally, the last time Red Star lost at home at Bauer in a league match was back in April 2006, when the winners were.... Rouen reserves. |

COMING UP THIS WEEKEND Red Star face a Rouen side weakened by several key injuries at Stade Bauer on Saturday evening (6pm CET). Two points separate the clubs, Rouen being just ahead of Red Star in the table, but the Saint-Ouen club have a game in hand. Despite finishing runners-up to Paris FC last season and starting out as hot favourites for promotion, the Red Devils have struggled somewhat this season and have fallen off the pace somewhat. In their last game they were cuaght in the last minutes of play against Vitré, letting the win slip away to a late equaliser. Rouen this season have a monster budget compared to the other amateur clubs in the division, and recently they launched their own TV channel, FCR TV with a set-up budget of 400 000 euros and annual running costs of 200 000. Admittedly the results are very good. See : www.fcrouen.net. For Red Star, Eugène Kangulungu remains doubtful following a knock picked up in last weekends' defeat at Guingamp. For the visitors, however, Pierre Vignaud and William Correa will miss the trip and Stéphane Lalaoui, Mathieu Duhamel, Mourad Jallti, Julien Léonard and Sébastien Robert may also be absent.
Rouen usually take a good following to away games, but with the indifferent form there might be less than usual for the trip to the capital. |

RED STAR PROGRESS IN COUPE DE PARIS. Red Star progressed through to the next round of the Coupe de Paris with a 1-0 win at Montigny-le-Bretonneux. The goal came on the half hour, scored by youngster Loïc Ghili. With the hosts reduced to ten folowing the sending-off of a defender on the hour mark, Red Star failed to press home their numerical and divisional superiority. In the dying minutes of the game Elysée M‘Banza missed a penalty which would have doubled Red Stars' advantage. Bad news for Red Star is that Badougou Sambague limped out of the action with an injury. Details of the severity of the injury will follow. The teams: Also in the Coupe de Paris, Franconville and Levallois are also through to the next round. The draw will take place on Tuesday 20th February in the evening, in Paris.

END OF RUN. Red Stars' ten-match unbeaten run came to an end in Britanny on Saturday, going down 3-1 to Guingamp Reserves. The Bretons were looking to avenge a severe 4-0 defeat at Bauer earlier in the season. Despite going ahead through a Grégory Lefort penalty, Red Stars' lead did not last long and the hosts were soon level. A second goal just before the break was followed by a killer blow in the second half and Red Star faced a long trek home empty handed.

RED STAR LEAVE IT LATE There were only three minutes remaining on the clock on Saturday evening at Bauer when a defensive error by an hitherto reliable visitors defender let in substitute striker Elysée M'Banza to somehow slide the ball through the goalkeepers' legs and into the net. In a game which could have gone either way, Red Stars' future international goalkeeper Yoann Djidonou (he has been called up to represent Benin) shone with a series of outstandng saves. Yoanns' international call-up could be the start of great things for the young goalkeeper, arrived this season at Stade Bauer from the reserves of Entente Sannois-Saint-Gratien.
CFA RESULTS BAUER NEWS The work to bring the stadium to standard will start very soon. The changing rooms under the main stand, abandoned since the "new" ones were built under the Bauer stand in 1975 will be refurbished and the back wall of the now roofless "Paris" east stand will be strenghtened to allow the terracing to be used. With the dressing rooms improved, the capacity of the stadium will jump from 3 000 to 7 000, enough to meet the ground grading requirements of the National. ..AND ON THE DOWN SIDE AllezRedStar.com were at the "other Saint-Ouen", Saint-Ouen l'Aumône in the attractive Val d'Oise departement to see Red Stars' under 15s in action against the locals. In a battle of fourth versus second, Red Star did the hardest in opening the scoring following a period of pressure. However, just before the break Red Star were split apart in defense by a good local move and Saint-Ouen equalised. After the break Red Star should have really sewn the game up, enoying fifteen minutes of pressure on the home defense. However they were caught with a sucker puch, caught in posession with too many committed forwards, and Saint-Ouens' lively front duo found the space to beat the helpless Red Star 'keeper. As Red Star pushed for an equaliser, a virtually identical move saw the home side put the game beyond Red Stars' reach, and in the battle of the Audoniens it was the Val d'Oisens whom won the day.

COUPE DE PARIS As announced, Red Star will play Montigny-le-Bretonneux in the next round of the Coupe de Paris. Red Star are no strangers to the club from the Yvelines, having already played them in a Coupe de France tie back in October 2003. On that day a late late goal from Alhaji Baldé was enough to see Red Star through to the next round 1-0. Coached by Azzdine Meguelatti, Red Star lined up that day with Germain, Carles, Hammami, Diomande, Guei, Delaneuville (Fourneuf 90), Fofana, Dosso (Budoc 73), Balde, Desmarets, Hiroux. Sub: Fissirou. That seasons' cup run ended with a 1-0 defeat against Fontainebleu at Stade Bauer. Montigny play in the same division as Villejuif, Red Stars' opponents this season in the Coupe de France. Against Villejuif, Red Star came from being one goal down to run out easy winners 4-1. The match could take place on Wednesday 14th February |
