APRIL 2007 NEWS ARCHIVE  RED STAR FC 93

Updated 27rd April 2007

RED STAR RESERVES : LEAGUE TABLE 1. RED STAR 52 pts, 2. La Garenne Colombes 48 pts, 3. Antony 48 pts (1 game in hand), 4. Le Plessis Robinson 45 pts, 5. La Colombienne 44 pts, 6. Les Lilas 40 pts, 7. Levallois 39 pts (1 game in hand), 8. Sarcelles 38 pts, 9. Ezanville 38 pts, 10. Noisy-le-Sec 37 pts (2 matchs en moins), 11. Paris SG 35 pts, 12. Tremblay-en-France 35 pts
..NOT FORGETTING THE THIRD XI.. Red Stars' third string march towards the fourth division championship and promotion to the next level. At present Red Star, in their first season, have a one point lead over Bagnolet as well as a game in hand. With only one draw this season and no defeats, Red Star can be proud of their achievements. In fourteen games Red Star have scored 117 goals for only eleven conceded.
COMING UP THIS WEEKEND In the CFA, the match that stands out is the vital top of the table clash between Bois-Guillaume and Villemomble. A draw appears to be the most likely result between the two high-fliers. After this game the run-ins of the two promotion contenders is as follows:
BOIS-GUILLAUME : Moissy-Cramayel (A), Pacy-sur-Eure (H), Quevilly (A), Concarneau (H)
VILLEMOMBLE : Rennes (H), Plabennec (H), Moissy-Cramayel (A), Pacy-sur-Eure (H)
On paper the Normands have the easiest finish, but Villemombe do have three home games out of four. No doubt the suspense will go right to the wire. If only Red Star had not been robbed of a potential four points by the FFFs' incredible decsion, then a final winning run might just have propelled them into a strong finishing position.
All the CFA fixtures:
Rennes B - Plabennec
Bois-Guillaume - Villemomble
Auxerre B - Moissy-Cramayel
Vitré - Quevilly
Paris SG B – Concarneau (at Versailles, behind closed doors)
Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois - Pontivy
Rouen - Dieppe
Guingamp B - Poissy
RED STAR FC 93 – PACY-SUR-EURE
ALSO THIS WEEKED On Sunday at 3-30pm CET, at the Ile des Vannes, leaders Red Star reserves are at home to Sarcelles, a tricky tie to manoevre given that the visitors, who beat Red Star earlier this season are battling to avoid relegation. Red Star will be without defender José Nseke, suspended following a red card received tow games ago. Rivals La Garenne Combes are at home to Les Lilas whereas Antony travel to the Camp des Loges to play Paris SG.
Under 18s (DH) : Red Star – ACBB, Parc des Sports, Bobigny, Sunday 29th at 1-30pm CET.
Under 15s (DSR) : Alfortville – Red Star
Under 13s (DHR) : Red Star – Le Blanc-Mesnil, 2pm CET, Saturday, at the Stade Joliot Curie. Why not arrive early tomorrow for the game Red star v Pacy, and take in the Under 13s ? A win would virtually see Red Star promoted to the DH.

BACK IN TRAINING Present in training during this week were Yannick Berthier and Nicolas Fabiano. The pair, returning from long injury lay-offs took part in light training. GOOD WIN Quite obviously the main talking point on Saturday on the terraces at Moissy was the incomprehinsible decision of the FFFs' appeals committee to reverse the previously taken decsion on the PSG-Red Star affair. However on the pitch Red Star put aside the disappointment of the injustice to swat aside Moissy-Cramayel, although the scoreline would not indicate a comprehensive victory. With the hosts very negative at times, this one was not a joy to watch, but nevertheless, on a beautiful pitch which suited Red Stars' football, one goal was sufficient to ensure that the best side collected maximum points.
Once again it was striker Grégory Lefort whom was in the right place at the right time to smash home the winning goal from ten yards out. Grégs' eleventh of the season was enjoyed by the Red Star faithful, once again out in large numbers for this cross-city trip.
Making their debuts in the CFA squad were Mamoud Cissé and Sébastien Dewambez. The former was due to replace Reevis NSimba in the dying seconds of the game but the whistle blew for full time before he had a chance to taste the action.
OTHER CFA SCORES

Villemomble - Auxerre B : 1-1
Pacy-sur-Eure - Vitré : 1-1
Plabennec - Pontivy : 0-0
Quevilly - Paris SG B : 1-2
Poissy - Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois : 1-0
Concarneau - Rouen : 3-1

NAIDON TO STAY IN CHARGE On Saturday the management of Red Star FC 93 announced that the current first team coaching duo of Bruno Naidon and Alphonse Luraschi are to continue in charge of affairs for the 2007-2008 season. President Bruno Davoine recognised the good work put in by the pair, especially in view of recent weeks' results, given the enormity of the changes carried out at the end of last season.
RESERVES TRIUMPH Red Stars' reserves won their vital top of the table clash at La Garenne Colombes yesterday 4-0, including a hat-trick from the mercurial Davidson Charles. The other goal was scored by Mickaël Marquet, made available in a bid to strengthen the reserves with a view to winning promotion. Elsewhere the third XI go marching on with a 12-1 thumping of Drancy, but the under 18s slumped 2-1 against Brétigny.

PSG - RED STAR : THE AFFAIR RUMBLES ON Reactions to the incomprehensible decision made two days ago by the FFF on the PSG - Red Star abandoned game have been flooding in. "Scandalous", "shameful", "incoherent" are some of the adjectives used to describe the incredible volte-face. On one hand the federation are keen to stamp out violence on and off the pitches, but when they have the chance to actually act up and stand up, then this is the result. A climb-down under pressure from the squealings of certain people at a certain club.
Fortunately the loss of a point might not be the end of the world for Red Star, given that they are reasonably comfortably placed in the league. The pity is that if they had actually replayed the game then beaten PSG then they might just have featured in the list of teams there or thereabouts for the run-in at the end of the season, given that traditionally they end the season strong (six wins from six games last season, for example). But with one ill-judged decision, Red Star slip into mid-table anonymity and PSG now have a reasonable chance to pull themselves away from danger (as do the first XI).
ALSO THIS WEEEND With the fizz taken somewhat out of Red Stars' end of season, the game at Moissy could turn out to be a damp squib. Attention is turned to the top of the table clashes where league leaders Rennes take on current top amateurs Bois-Guillaume. Red Stars' last victims Villemomble prepare to step into the Normands shoes in case of a slip up; Villemomble are at home to Auxerre. At the bottom Plabennec are at home to Pontivy and the formers' nearest rivals PSG are away at Quevilly. No doubt some Red Star fans will be hoping for a home win, there !
Rennes B - Bois-Guillaume
Villemomble - Auxerre B
Pacy-sur-Eure - Vitré

RED STAR INTER-COMPANY TOURNAMENT Red Star will be holding the second Inter-Company tournament on Saturday June 2nd at Stade Bauer. The frst was held last September and was a huge success.

WHich ever side wins will be well-placed to take the title honours as well. Current table : 1. Red Star 48 pts, 2. La Garenne Colombes 47 pts, 3. Antony 44 pts (1 game in hand), 4. Le Plessis Robinson 43 pts, 4. La Colombienne 42 pts …

PSG - RED STAR : FFF VOLTE-FACE ! Today the decision of the appeals committee on the Paris-Saint-Germain reserves v Red Star affair has been announced - to the shock and dismay of all at Red Star, the committee has announced a decision the complete opposite to the one made last month !
For memory, the game was interrupted after only seven minutes of play when a commando of around thirty PSG hooligans attacked the Red Star supporters, resulting in two being taken to hospital. Red Stars' players and officials refused to continue the encounter given the lack of security at the Camp des Loges stadium and the referee had no choice but to abandon the game.
After the first hearing, the decision was as follows :
- Three points deducted for PSG
- Match to be replayed at a neutral venue
- PSG to review the security at the ground and bring it up to standard.
However the new decision taken yesterday is as follows:
- Red Star FC 93 to lose the game by default (zero points), match awarded to PSG
- Three points deducted for PSG (but given that the match is "won", effectively they gain one point.
- Two matches to be played at a neutral venue, behind closed doors.
Disgusting. One rule for the big clubs and another for the amateurs. Red Star will now appeal to the Sports Ethics Committee. Not the end of the matter, it appears...

Updated 16th April 2007

WEEKEND NEWS ROUND-UP Red Star threw the championship wide open with their excellent 1-0 win at home to former leaders Villemomble Sports. In the derby of 93, a goal scored by Mickaël Marquet five minutes into the second half proved to be decisive. Coupled with Bois-Guilaumes' 2-1 win over Plabennec, the championship race which at one time appeared to be a formality for Villemomble after an astounding start to the season is now undecided. With six games remaining (seven for Red Star) the race is not yet run !
Despite a below-par performance from Red Star on an unusualy hot April afternoon, Red Star deserved their victory and confirms the good work put in by coaching staff and players alike in recent weeks. Marquets' goal, a result of honest hard work and persistence by Red Stars' strikers did carry perhaps a stroke of luck, but in view of some bad luck earlier in the season then the balance is made.
On the negative side, however, the attendance at the game, slightly under six hundred, but the game did take place in the middle of a holiday period during a spell of exceptional weather. The hot conditions did however lead to several players finishing the game withe blistered feet and knocks picked up due to contact with the rock-hard surface.

Red Star - Villemomble
Mickaël Marquet leaps to score Red Stars' goal

If only... Red Star might live to regret the series of drawn games that summed up their season from September to November. Had some of these games been won, then Red Star might just be up in the frame with the likes of Villemomble and Bois-Guillaume. Certainly results in recent weeks have been positive and looking back the only team in the promotion running to have beaten Red Star is Rouen (1-0 at Bauer). Otherwise Red Star have drawn then beaten Villemomble; drawn twice against Rennes (admittedly somwhat miraculously at home); drawn twice against Bois Guillaume but could consider themselves having been robbed in a 2-2 draw at Bauer; finally a draw then a fine away win at Auxerre. The draw at Bauer against Auxerre was only earned by the visitors with an injury-time goal.
Red Star have virtually booked their place in the CFA next season with this win against local rivals Villemomble. However at the top things are undecided and at the bottom PSGs' win aganst Pacy (a blow to their promotion hopes) leaves the fight against relegation open. At the start of the season Dieppe, with a new stadium appeared to be one of the favourites for promotion; a 6-1 drubbing at Saint-Geneviève-des-Bois could prove fatal for the Normans who now have relegation staring them in the face.
Results:
Bois-Guillaume - Plabennec : 2-1
Auxerre B - Rennes B : 1-1
Vitré - Moissy-Cramayel : 1-0
Pontivy - Poissy : 3-2
Paris SG B - Pacy-sur-Eure : 2-0
Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois - Dieppe : 6-1
Rouen - Quevilly : 2-0
Guingamp B - Concarneau : 1-0

- Thursday : rest

OTHER RESULTS Red Stars' reserves lost 3-0 at Noisy-le-Sec, a very disappointing result and eneded the game with ten men following the dismissal of José N'Seke for hand ball. A blow to Red Stars' defence, given the absences of Wissem Zorgani, Nabile Yessad, Bilal Hammami and Harry Vitalien. On a positive note, Red Stars' under 18s beat PSG 2-0.

DECISION DELAYED The FFF have delayed their final decision on the appeal made by Paris Saint-Germain on the deduction of three points until the 17th of April. This means that should the original decision stand, then the match will be replayed some time in May.

HOLIDAYS … A rather minimal service of matches this weekend during the Easter break. Red Stars' reserves have a rearranged game at Noisy-le-Sec whilst the Under 18s are at home to Paris SG. Red Stars' youngsters are third, some nine and ten points behind the two front-runners Saint-Denis and Racing respectively, but do have a game in hand.

LEADERS HELD Red Star returned from their trip to Britanny to face leaders Rennes Reserves with a well-deserved draw, athough they could consider themselves unlucky not to have taken all the points. A fine first-half performance was marred by some indifferent finishing. Rennes' coach Landry Chauvin admitted that Red Star should have gone in at the pause at least two goals up.

A TALE OF TWO PENALTIES... and of the ninety minute game. Red Star were held to a two-all draw at home to promotion contenders Bois-Guillaume on Saturday at Bauer. But the game will be remembered for the two penalties, one missed, the other successful that played a major role in the outcome of the game.
Grégory Lefort, who was to play a major role in the game gave Red Star the perfect start agains the best defece in the league after only five minutes. Loïc Ghili threaded a perfect through ball into the path of the onrushing Lefort whom hit the ball sweetly first time from the edge of the area to beat the visitors' goalkeeper. (1-0). On the half hour striker Elysée Mbanza outjumped his marker to place a cross from Moussara Ouattara into the goal to double Red Stars' lead. Moments later, however, the visitors were gifted a comedy goal, a series of gross defensive errors allowing Colinet to pull one back. Moments before the pause came the turining point of the whole game. Elysée Mbanza was bundled over in the penalty area, the man in black pointed to the spot and up stepped Greg Lefort to do justice. Unfortunately his kick was not as sweet as last weeks effort and the Bois-Guillaume goalie managed to save not only the kick but his sides' hopes. Going in at the pause 3-1 down might have spelled the end for the Normans.
After the break Red Star dominated affairs and a series of chances went begging; as the home supporters started to anxiously check their watches, a Bois-Guillaume player fell over in the penalty area, the referee once again pointed to the spot, and to the dismay of Red Stars' players and supporters the visitors' captain made no mistake from the spot.
Red Star can feel aggrieved to have lost this one, a very disputable penalty robbing them of four valuable points that would have put them within sniffing distace of the front-runners. However, they must also look back on the wasted chances and the missed spot kick as well.

Pontivy - Concarneau : 1-0
Paris SG B - Villemomble : 1-2

ECHOS FROM THE GAME & NEWS ROUND-UP. Villemomble tok advantage of Bois-Guillaumes' draw to extend their lead as top amateur club by beating Paris Saint-Germains' reserves 2-1. Extra security was in force at the Camp des Loges for this encounter, although maybe the helicopter that circled over the ground on three occasions was just a coincidence...
Top club in the division is Rennes; in beating Vitré they have a comfortable lead in the championship, even if they are ineligible for promotion. In their next game they face Red Star at home, of course (Sunday 8th at 3pm CET).
One player whom will not be playing in that game, and mabe in no further games until the end of the season is Nabile Yessad; the defender was involved in a road accident on his scooter recently and has a shoulder injury that will mean a lay-off from the action for a while. Another injury is to goalkeeper Florent Moulin, who could be out for four weeks.
Some good news is from the reserves, whom went joint top of their division following a 3-1 win at Tremblay yesterday. José Nseke opened the scoring before the home side equalised. After the break and some wake-up words from their coach David Guiget, the reserves won the game with goals from Bedi Buval and Davidson Charles. Red Star are on top of the table with La Garenne-Colombes, who could only draw 0-0 with Ezainville. Good news also for Red Stars' under 13s, who now are only one victory away from promotion to the DH with four games remaining. The 2-1 success this weekend over Aubervilliers means that they are ten points ahead of nearest rivals ES Parisienne. Red Stars' under 18s were unable to follow up last weeks' success at Sannois as their game at Drancy was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. Finally Red Stars' under 15s went down to a 6-2 defeat against CS Meaux.
