AUXERRE Red Star make the (relatively) short trip into Burgundy this weekend to play the reserves of AX Auxerre, a club whose first string lies in the bottom four of the first division. Red Star are still without Jérémy Lux, serving a six-match suspension following his red card at Jura Sud. They will also have to pass on the services of regular first-team goalkeeper Yoann Djidonou, called up for international duty for Benin against Sierre Leone in the African Nations Cup. Curiously enough Yoann also missed the corresponding fixture last season, also due to being on international duty. Auxerre, one of former Red Star man Steve Marlets' clubs, will be out for revenge after last seasons' 3-1 home correction by Bruno Naidons' men. The game will be officiated by Pascal Rebaud assisted by Guy Stéphane & Cédric Jung. The fourth official is Lilian Wartelle. Kick off is at 3pm CET on the pitch adjacent to the main stadium at Auxerre.
OFFICIAL TEAM PHOTO On Wednesday evening Red Stars' players & officials posed for the annual official photograph. Missing from the photo are Jérémy Lux, injured, and goalkeeper Florent Moulin.

FINE START Red Star got their season off to a good start with a hard-fought 2-1 win the Jura region against Jura Sud Foot. New signing Taïmmy Negreche fired into the roof of the net after only six minutes of play and as Red Star dominated, in the second half extended their lead when the dame Negreche was brought down in the penalty area. David Pinto made no mistake from the spot kick, only to be ordered to retake the penalty. Second effort also found the net. Minutes later Jérémy Lux was red-carded following some Materazzi-style provocation from a Jura Sud player, but despite conceding a 90th minute goal and having to endure ten minutes of stoppage time, Red Star hung on to take full points.
Red Stars' next game is a tough trip to Besançon, hot favourites for the title after narrowly missing out last season. They have invested in their squad in order to make a big promotion push. In their line up is Yoann Rangdet, once on Red Stars' books. For the trip to the Doubs, coach Naidon will have to make do without the suspended Jérémy Lux.

DRANCY 1 RED STAR 3 . Red Star stuttered somewhat at the start of the match, falling behind to a thirtieth minute goal before hitting back with three goals from Eric Lacomat, Loïc Ghili (penalty) and the inevitable Taïmmy Negreche. Our man Jacques Martin was on hand with his camera and provides us with some excellent photos from the encounter. More photos will appear on the site later on today.
