AUXERRE Red Star make the (relatively) short trip into Burgundy this weekend to play the reserves of AX Auxerre, a club whose first string lies in the bottom four of the first division. Red Star are still without Jérémy Lux, serving a six-match suspension following his red card at Jura Sud. They will also have to pass on the services of regular first-team goalkeeper Yoann Djidonou, called up for international duty for Benin against Sierre Leone in the African Nations Cup. Curiously enough Yoann also missed the corresponding fixture last season, also due to being on international duty. Auxerre, one of former Red Star man Steve Marlets' clubs, will be out for revenge after last seasons' 3-1 home correction by Bruno Naidons' men. The game will be officiated by Pascal Rebaud assisted by Guy Stéphane & Cédric Jung. The fourth official is Lilian Wartelle. Kick off is at 3pm CET on the pitch adjacent to the main stadium at Auxerre.

DULL DRAW BUT RED STAR SPARE BLUSHES. For their first home game of the season on Saturday afternoon Red Star could manage no better than a 1-1 draw against a very negative and dull Montceau side, whom very obviously had made the trip to earn a draw and maybe even sneak a win. Classic CFA stuff, or what. Greg Leforts' dodgy last minute penalty decision was converted by a superb spot kick to salvage a draw when all looked lost. Go behind to a side like Montceau with half an hour remainng and it becomes a very uphill task indeed. Fortunately for the men from Saint-Ouen results went more or less their way with leaders Besançon slipping up at Mulhouse (0-1), Croix de Savoie only sharing the points with another club there or abouts in the table, Saint-Priest. Vesoul join Besançon after a 1-0 win over Strasbourg as top amateur clubs, behind leaders Sochaux reserves, on ten points.

CFA GROUP B RESULTS
RED STAR FC 93 - MONTCEAU : 1-1
Mulhouse - Besançon : 1-0
Jura Sud Foot - Auxerre B : 1-0
Croix de Savoie – Saint-Priest : 0-0
Epinal - Raon l’Etape : 2-0
Nancy B - Metz B : 0-1
Strasbourg B - Vesoul : 0-1
Sochaux B - Belfort : 3-1
Lyon B – Epernay : 3-0
PENALTY Striker Greg Lefort confirmed that he was jostled when trying to jump for a high ball in the penalty area late in the game. YOu can see a video of the incident at : Go ! , However the video doesn't really cast a great deal of light on the issue. From a pitchside viewpoint, AllezRedStar.com didn't really have a clear view on events either as the referees' assistant blocked your mans' sightlines. The local rag in Montceau moaned yesterday about frustration on the draw, but for Red Star frustration is having dominated a game against an unimaginative opponent, come just to avoid defeat. Frustration is also the supporters whom had forked out their hard-earned cash to see a game of football, only to see a one-sided affair where one team is intent on trying to win the game and the other trying to avid defeat with the hope of maybe grabbing something against the run of play.
KALU NGOMA Featured in the Montceau line up was former Red Star man Kalu N'Goma, a recent signing for the visitors. Kalu, at Red Star from 2000 to 2002 has never played at Stade Bauer despite being on Red Stars' books - he played at the Stade de Marville. Kalu still manahged to make it a happy "return" to Saint-Ouen, however, scoring Montceaus' goal.

SAINT-PRIEST Red Star are away at AUxerres' reserves next Sunday afternoon; the game kicks off at 3pm CET. The next home game at Bauer is against Saint-Priest on Saturday 8th September. Note that this game kicks off at 4pm CET, because the visitors are arriving by TGV and aim to catch the last TGV of the day back home.
FRIENDLY Red Stars' squad members whom had not featured in the draw at Bauer on Saturday took part in a friendly game at Garges-les-Gonesses yesterday, going down 1-0. The game curiously enough took part on a plastic pitch, despite the fact that there was a superb grass playing surface only yards away. Note that both Nicolas Fabiano and Yannick Berthier took part in the encounter.

DEFEAT IN THE DOUBS Red Star took the lead in their game at highly-fancied Besançon last Saturday, Taïmmy Negreche scoring his second league goal in as many games, but a very dubious penalty moments later converted by former Red Star man Yoann Rangdet drew the sides level again. The hosts took the lead in the second half and a late late penalty sealed the 3-1 win, to the disappointment of the Red Star travelling supporters.

Red Star are now tenth in the league, after two games. On Saturday they are at home to last seasons' cup giant killers Montceau-les-Mines, kick off is at 6pm CET at Stade Bauer, tickets on sale at the gate priced three and five euros.
YOANN DJIDONOU - INTERNATIONAL. Red Stars' regular goakleeper Yoann Djidonou is also an international with Benin, his "Mother" country, Yoann actually was born in the Parisian suburbs. On Tuesday evening Benin drew 2-2 with Gabon in a match played in France. Yoann was a second half sub, coming on with the score at 2-0 to Gabon. His side scored twice to earn a draw and Yoann kept a clean sheet.

FINE START Red Star got their season off to a good start with a hard-fought 2-1 win the Jura region against Jura Sud Foot. New signing Taïmmy Negreche fired into the roof of the net after only six minutes of play and as Red Star dominated, in the second half extended their lead when the dame Negreche was brought down in the penalty area. David Pinto made no mistake from the spot kick, only to be ordered to retake the penalty. Second effort also found the net. Minutes later Jérémy Lux was red-carded following some Materazzi-style provocation from a Jura Sud player, but despite conceding a 90th minute goal and having to endure ten minutes of stoppage time, Red Star hung on to take full points.

Red Stars' next game is a tough trip to Besançon, hot favourites for the title after narrowly missing out last season. They have invested in their squad in order to make a big promotion push. In their line up is Yoann Rangdet, once on Red Stars' books. For the trip to the Doubs, coach Naidon will have to make do without the suspended Jérémy Lux.

DRANCY 1 RED STAR 3 . Red Star stuttered somewhat at the start of the match, falling behind to a thirtieth minute goal before hitting back with three goals from Eric Lacomat, Loïc Ghili (penalty) and the inevitable Taïmmy Negreche. Our man Jacques Martin was on hand with his camera and provides us with some excellent photos from the encounter. More photos will appear on the site later on today.
