ANOTHER BORE-DRAW Red Stars' supporters voiced their discontent following another goalless draw, this time at lowly La Vitréenne. The words "barn door" and "banjo" could almost be used in conjunction to describe the feeble attempts on goal from shot-shy Red Star in Brittany on Saturday. On a positive note, it could be said that at least Red Stars defence didn't ship any goals, whichs is an improvement folowing the five goals conceded against Quevilly and Noisy-le-Sec. But, for the fifth time in twelve games, the opposing goalie didin't have the trouble of picking the ball out of the back of his net. In detail: Red Star have scored nine goals in twelve games, an average of ,75 goals per game. Nine goals in one thousand and eighty minutes of football, or one goal every two hours. Take away the exceptional three goals scored against Racing, and that makes six goals in eleven, or six in nine hundred and ninety minutes - one goal every two hours forty-five minutes. For reference, leaders Viry-Châtillon have scored twenty-one goals in twelve games - not exactly a goal-fest but better than Red Star, anyway.
Red Star have no game next weekend following their cup exit, so they have arranged a friendly against CFA 2 outfit Troyes reserves. Maybe a chance for them to find the net ?

RED STAR IN GAMBARDELLA TRIUMPH Red Stars' under 18s, coached by the likeable Sébastien Robert are having no trouble in finding the net. They faced tough opponents in the last regional round of the Coupe Gambardella before it goes National and the big clubs arrive. Their opponents ACBB from Boulogne-Billancourt had earlier this season featured in a 3-3 draw against Red Star. This time both sides went one better, managing seven as Red Star ran out 5-2 winners, despite having to come from behind twice.

ELSEWHERE Red Stars' reserves got back to winning ways and lift themselves to sixth place in the table following a 2-0 win against Villepinte. Both goals were scored by a player featured in a recent AllezRedStar.com photo special, Gaëtan Bondon. The third XI were convincing winners 5-0 against Romainville. Note that the reserves, who were deducted four points for fielding an ineligible player in the rout of Noisiel could win their appeal against the decision. Details to follow.
Jean-Claude Ourés' under 15s are sitting proudly on top of the league following a 1-0 win over Le Bourget. Red Star are level on points with Versailles, their next opponents. Disappointment however for the under 13s, rooted to the foot of the table after a loss to Jeunesse d’Aubervilliers.

VICTORY BUT WITH A SOUR TASTE. Red Star won the derby game beating Alfortville 1-0, thanks to a goal from Maxime Ongmakon on the half-hour. But the game will most likely be remembered for the unsavoury scenes ten minutes from time which saw punches exchanged, two men red-carded and some frayed tempers which continued after the final whistle. The game itself was drab, Ongmakons' goal the highlight of a shot-shy performance by both sides. Alfortville almost drew level after the break but the excellent Soilyho Mete hacked the ball off the line and away to safety. In the last minutes the visitors wasted a free kick in a good position and Red Star almost put the game beyond the visitors' reach with a couple of counter-attacks.

AND NOW SOME GOOD NEWS.... Red Stars' under 18s coached by Sébastien Robert thumped Saint-Denis by four goals to one in an outstanding performance. Jean-Claude Ourés Under 15s beat strugglers Le Blanc-Mesnil 3-2 but was disappointed by the performance which saw Red Star almost throw away a three goal advantage as the visitors came back to 3-2.
...BEFORE THE BAD NEWS. Red Stars' reserves turned in a woeful performance to lose 2-0 at Versailles. David Giguets' men are now third bottom in a close championship where a handful of points separate several sides. Red Stars' under 13s were on the wrong end of a 4-0 thumping at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain.

CUP DREAM OVER Red Stars' name will not be engaved on the famous Coupe de France trophy for a sixth time, in May. This season the dream was ended by near-neighbours Noisy-le-Sec in a truly awful performance by coach Cicclinis' men. Indeed the performance was so bad that Red Star president Patrice Haddad was spotted leaving for the exits three meniutes before the final whistle. Noisy had earlier taken the lead from a free kick only for Yoann Delaneuville to level affairs from the penalty spot. However in the second half a Noisy defender was allowed to wander into the Red Star penalty area with the ball before unleashing a powerful shot that Xavier Pinoteau could do nothing about. Final score 2-1, the cup exit merely adding to Red Stars' woes this season.
They must pick themselves up now to face UJA Paris, or Alfortville as they were known until recently. UJAs' president is Michel Moulin, one-time of Red Star and more recently involved with Paris Saint-Germain. The club are partially-owned by cybersupporters on the web, in a similar manner to Ebbsfleet United in the UK. For twenty euros, the visitor can buy a stake in the club. The long-term aim is to get the club from Créteil into the first division.
Note that on Saturday at Noisy, striker Amadou Diagouraga made his return from injury, coming in as a sub for Zahiri, only to limp out of the action twenty minutes later, replaced by Bouzid Yosri.

ON A POSITIVE NOTE Red Stars' under 18s progressed into the next round of the Coupe Gambardella with a 2-1 win over Viry-Châtillon at the Ile des Vannes. They overcame a one-goal deficit to run out winners in a keenly-fought but fair contest. Bravo to coach Sébastien Robert & his players.
