RED STAR SIGN STRIKER. Red Star have signed striker Samuel Ojong from National club Croix de Savoie. Ojong, who played against Red Star in the CFA last season is 29 years old and his former clubs include SR Delémont, Neuchâtel Xamax and FC Thoune in Switzerland, then Gazelec Ajaccio (National , CFA) in France before a move to ambitious Croix de Savoie where he achieved promotion to the National. Born in Cameroon, Samuel has been signed to provied a much-needed boost to Red Stars' notoriously inefficient attack, that has scored thirteen goals this season in sixteen games. With Taïmmy Negreche and Amadou Diagouraga sidelined through injury and Maxime Ongmakon still suspended, he will hopefully fill the void left by these absences.
Last Saturday Red Star lost to Guingamps' reserves, but staged a minor fightback after being 2-0 down at the pause. Red Stars' goal was scored by Djamel Zahiri from the penalty spot with a "Panenka" style kick.

SOMEWHAT BELATEDLY ... a Happy New Year to all our readers. Apologies for not having updated the news for nearly one month, but basically there hasn't been a lot happening over the Christmas holidays and after, given the Arctic conditions that have prevailed recently. Red Star have had two games postponed; firstly the trip westwards to Guingamp fell victim, before the home game against high-flying Viry-Châtillon was called off despite a thaw. One game that did go ahead however was last Sunday and saw Red Stars' under 18s win a penalty shoot-out against Nanterre in the Coupe Gambardella. Score after normal time 1-1. They now go on to play Laval in the next round. Laval is a National club, one division above Red Star. In the cup anything is possible, however. Full marks to coach Sébastien Robert, his staff and the players. |
