RED STAR - PSG If you're thinking of going to Red Stars' next home game on Saturday at Stade Bauer against PSG reserves, don't bother because the game will be played behind closed doors thanks to some of Red Stars' more excitable "supporters". Following various incidents throughout the season, culminating in a bottle being thrown during the Rouen debacle, The FFF have decided that Red Star should be punished by a fine and closure of the ground for one game.
Eight years ago, following crowd problems during a cup-tie against Lyon, Red Star were ordered to play one game behind closed doors at Marville, and they duly were thumped 5-0 by Clermont, the season that Red Star dropped out of the National.

POINTS DEDUCTION. Red Stars' bad crowd behaviour record has resulted in them being docked one point by the authorities and there will be one match to be played behind closed doors, most likely the Paris Saint-Germain reserves game. The ban comes after a bottle was lobbed onto the pitch during the Rouen debacle at Stade Bauer.

BACK TO OLD WAYS Following on from Red Stars' recent improvements (win at Le Havre, draw against Quevilly) hopes were high of bringing back a success and a first "double" of the season against UJ Alfortville. But things went disastrously wrong as Red Star fel into old habits and found themselves three-nil down at half time against a fellow relegation candidate. But to Red Stars' credit they fought their way back into the game after the break and pulled two goals back, thus giving hope to their sizeable following. An own goal followed by a Samuel Ojong penalty made the game wide open only for hopes to be dashed minutes later as the home side made the game safe with a penalty. Final score 4-2.
There are now seven games remaining, four of which are at home (La Vitréenne, PSG, Guingamp and Rennes) and the remaining three away (Quimper, Pontivy and Viry-Châtillon). Win the four home games and draw the away ones (preferably winning the Pontivy game instead) and the drop should be avoided.

THIS WEEKEND Red Star hope to build on the 3-0 away win against Le Havre this weekend at Stade Baur when Quevilly are the visitors. The situation is vastly different from the one back in December 2006 when Quevilly last visited Saint-Ouen. At that time Quevilly and Red Star needed points for different reasons, because the visitors were struggling at the bottom of the division whereas Red Star were looking to push onwards to the top places. This time, however, Red Star need the points to pull away from the relegation places and Quevilly and aiming for promotion to the National. Quevilly are coached by former Red Star man Régis Brouard and are a different kettle of fish to the side that drew 2-2 here two seasons ago. Earlier this season Red Star slumped to a poor 3-1 defeat in Normandy. Their task was not helped by going behind to two quick goals. Red Star could be boosted on Saturday by the return in defence of the influential Soilyho Mete, whereas Ludovic Fardin pulled out of training early yesterday.

AllezRedStar.com recived a message from Dulwich Hamlet supporter Mishi, asking us how many teams go down from the CFA. Well, normally it's the last three that are relegated, but this being France, anything can happen. It is quite possible for a team to finish mid-table or even top only to be relegated by the DNCG, the body responsible for the finances of French clubs. This was the case for Bois-Guillaume a couple of seasons ago. Red Star are currently being watched by the DNCG to ensure that they don't lash out money that they don't have. The only solution is for Red Star to win all their remaining five home games and draw the four away ones and therefore save their place.
