DOSSIER JEAN-YVES LE GOURRIEREC  RED STAR 93

There remain only two candidates to take over Red Star. The TGI in Bobigny will make their final decision on the 19th of June. The "winner" will be either Eric Charrier or Jean-Yves Le Gourrierec. Today, we present the full dossier proposed by Jean-Yves Le Gourrierec. No particular reason why we present this one second - remember that this site is neutral and has no preference for one or the other.

DOSSIER JEAN-YVES LE GOURRIEREC

Red Star,
THE FOOTBALL ACADEMY

A sporting project which is popular, ambitious and realistic

The projet which we present here is a sporting project which aims to restore the name of one of the oldest French football clubs.
Red Star is an important element of the patrimony of French sport. We want to restore it to its rightful place in the sporting world.
This is the aim of our project, christened "The Academy of Football" : make Red Star the premier formative club. Organise this functions alongside making the first team one of the top three teams in the region Île-de-France.
The Academy of Football, is first and foremost a spririt based on values which we consider essential : noble gesture, solidarity, respect of oneself and of others and fair play.
It is also a conception of football which places the sport at its fundamental level - a game. With rules, an apprenticeship, a place for the imagination and talent, but firstly a game.
This is why the Academy of Football is based on three fundamental propositions:

  • initiation, training and sporting perfection
  • top-level sport
  • Professionalism.

A popular project

Our project is a popular sporting project based upon a club solidly anchored in its environment.

A club solidly anchored in its social and cultural environment , linked to the population and the youth of the Seine-Saint-Denis and the northern regions of Paris.

Red Star was and is a club of the people. Just like the British stadia, the Stade Municipal in the Rue du Docteur Bauer, at Saint-Ouen, where the offices are located, is at the heart of a living and moving quarter - les Puces. This is part of the clubs' identity, it's history and its life. The geographical placement covers virtually all of the north of the capital. It is a club which is easily accessible. This is a value which must be conserved and strengthened.

Seine Saint-Denis is a bredding-gound for football and for Red Star.

Therefore a balanced co-operation between all the clubs of the Seine Saint-Denis is needed. All the local bodies will be linked, starting with the town of Saint-Ouen, which is the owner of the Stade Bauer and the facilities at the Ile des Vannes, and also with the council of Seine-Saint-Denis, owner of the training facilities at Bobigny and at Stade Marville, at La Courneuve. These are the goals of these co-operations:
  • organisation of sporting events - tournaments, scouting etc
  • initiatives in the domain of education - football training camps etc
  • professional education - learning sporting trades (formations aux métiers du sport…) ;
  • schooling education
The fact that for one hundred years the club has been the club of the northern Paris suburbs will give the identity. Together with Saint-Ouen, the club will ensure that the stadium is used by the public for the public, even outside of matchday.

The club will create partnership with local entreprises.

Red Star will strike partnerships with the multitude of local businesses, with the aims of

  • a club of businesses which will finance Red Star
  • placing young club employees with local businesses
  • helping players find jobs at the end of their playing careers
  • organisation of inter-company tournaments
  • organising sporting dinners

An ambitious project

Our project is an ambitious one, based upon sporting success.

Promoting sporting success

The first objective is to bring back sporting success. In recent years Red Star have slipped from the doors to the first division to the depths of the CFA 2. This spectacular fall must be stopped and the club must become once more one of the leading lights in Paris football. It is impossible to put a precise calendar on this return, as sport is unpredicatable. But we must give the means by which it can be achieved.
The project aims to tackle the issue that sporting success means eductational failuer. To this end the club aims to put in place measures to ensure that youngsters continue their education at the same time as developing their sporting career.
The club will also work with the Union Nationale des Footballeurs Professionnels to help with footballers at the end of their sporting careers.
The club aims to create a regional trophy for the player and teams deemed to be the most fair-play.

Openness

To ensure that the club remains truly open in its dealings, a controlling council representaing all the partners will be created. The council will meet regularly to give its opinion on various matters. The council will coordinate with

  • footballing bodies
  • the fans
  • with the local press and specialist publications
