TRIBUTE TO ARMAND PENVERNE
ARMAND PENVERNE, born 26th November 1926 in Pont-Scorff (Morbihan) passed away 27th February 20121, was a midfielder who played notably for the Stade de Reims for twelve years and was capped thirty nine times for his country. He was in the French team that finished third in the World Cup in 1958.
Armand Penverne He scored the goal that put Reims into the European Cup Final of 1959 but missed the final through injury. Along with René Bliard and two youngsters from Stade de Reims, Desruisseau and Maouche, Armand joined Red Star with the aim of gaining promotion to division one. The experience was short lived, one season only before he moved on to Limoges where he hung up his boots aged 36. Move your mouse over a photo to see it enlarged
