Aziz Belissasoui AZIZ BELISSAOUI. The unfortunate Aziz Belissaoui (see photo) has left Red Star 93. A series of injuries over the last three seasons has blighted the centre-forwards' career.
EX-RED STAR. Steve Marlet seems likely to join an English club; Gueugnon are on the trail of Troyes' Samba Diawara; at Guingamp the arrival of striker Bruno Rodriguez could unsettle Samuel Michel.
DHR. Red Stars' third XI whalloped Marly-le-Roi 4-2 away, and now have an eight-point lead over the second placed club Le Chesnay and 9 over Champigny. For their last match of the campaign, Red Star are at home to Champigny whilst Le Chesnay are at home to Entente. Randget is Red Stars' top scorer with 19 goals.

The quarter final tie will take place on Saturday June 3rd, 3pm CET at Avoine, a village of 2 000 in the region Indre-et-Loire to the north-west of Chinon close to the nuclear power station of Chinon-Avoine. No doubt the players will return with a glow !
FRIENDLY DEFEAT. Red Star went down 1-2 to Reims as part of the centenary celebrations of the football club of Stade de Grand-Quevilly, near Rouen on Sunday. Reims openend the scoring on 13 minutes through Jacquemet, doubled by Iakolev eight minutes later. Sébastien Bertrand, a player with Rouen on trial at Red Star had a good opportunity, the sole for Red Star in the first period. After the break Vincent Doukantie reduced the deficit. Updated 29th May THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT ! Saturday afternoon at Vitry-le-François, the under 17's of Red Star 93 k-o'd their peers from the Strasbourg club 1-0 in the national competition. The goal, scored in the 83rd minute from the penalty spot by Joël Ribeiro, followed a handball incident which could be at best deemed as borderline. Whatever, a fantastic victory for local kids and the local club which puts its' faith in home-grown talent.
Patrice Lecornu, present at Vitry-le-François underlined the organisation and the will to win of Red Star. "Individually the Strasbourg players were superior, but our lads were up for it, especially Charles Itandje. Our 'keeper performed heroics at least three times in front of goal. Luck was on our side, but our courage was paid in full." Note also that Paris Saint-Germain received a 4-1 thrashing from Sochaux in the same competition. The draw for the next round takes place today.
In 1995, Red Star reached the semi-finals of the same competition, beating Epinal and Bordeaux en route. Let's hope that Charles Itangje, Bruno Gomes, Doudou Agoh, Kongbo Gregbo, Frantz Bertin, Joël Ribeiro, Abdoulaye Diawara, Macedo Gomez Varela, Jimmy Hamme, Didier Pass, Sébastien Malfleury, Aboubacar Fofana, Sylla Norman and Kinkela Fuanda, coached by Alain Bornand can go one step further.
TRANSFERS. Unlike other Red Star sites, which wait for their news from Le Parisien, this site gets the news and the exclusives first. Friday, we reported that Abdoulaye Meïté had signed for Marseille. Today, although we are unable to reveal his name, we can inform you that another Red Star player, aged 23, a midfielder who has been a revelation this season, will sign with a first division club from the east of France. Not difficult to guess who...
We can also reveal that a defender is poised to sign with Red Star this week.
THOUARS. As mentioned Friday, several National clubs are experiencing difficulties in living in the equivalent of D3. Thouars, who booked their place in the division for next season have decided to resign from the league. Their will be no reprieve for the club that finished fourth bottom, however, as one extra promotion place will be allocated. This will be decided by a play-off between the "second" placed club in each of the four CFA groups. The clubs will be Boulogne, Saint-Priest, Trélissac and Saint-Maur-Lusitanos. Dijon are the last club to be promoted to the National by means of "winning" their section. Of course the group winners are in most cases the reserve teams of the pro clubs, but these are not permitted to be promoted to the National, so promotion is claimed by the top amateur club.
SAMBA DIAWARA. Former Red Star player Samba will be loaned out by his D1 club Troyes for a D2, of which League Cup winners Gueugnon seem most likely. It might be possible that Samba will see UEFA cup action, too !

Updated 26th May ONE LAST EFFORT. There will be friendly match in the Rouen region, Red Star 93 versus Stade de Reims, 5pm CET Sunday at Grand Quevilly. Then the players are on holiday before returning to work June 30th. Benjamin Clément END OF THE ROAD. His former clubs also include Sochaux, Laval, San Remo in Italy before returning last season for one final shot with the club where he started out. Good luck Benjamin and thanks for all you've done at the club.
ON THE MOVE. Vincent Doukantie appears to be top of the wanted list, Saint-Etienne, Monaco and OM are on his trail. Akim Saci also in demand is on international duty on Friday with Algeria. A Spanish club is reportedly interested. Beauvais coach Jacky Bonnevay, newly promoted to D2 is interested in Camille Oponga, while several D2 clubs have eyes on Richard Akiana, including Beauvais.
FINANCIAL CONTROLS. As for the pro clubs, the finance of the National clubs come under the scrutiny of the DNCG (Direction Nationale de Controle de Gestion). Will we have a repeat of last years' Pontivy affair ?
MARLY-LE-ROI. Red Stars' third XI coached by Chrisophe Fiatte have an away match at Marly-le-Roi, Sunday 3-30pm CET, then complete their fixture programme with a home game at Marville on June 4th (Sunday).

Alain Gunia

Updated 22nd May WELL DONE CHRISTOPHE. With two matches still remaining, the third XI of Christophe Fiatte have earned their place in the division above for next year, with a nail-biting 1-0 win at home to Neuphle. Yoan Rangdet scored the winning goal after the break. Congratulations to all the team for the achievement.
AND TO YOU, TOO ! More good news, this time from Brittany, where the Under-17's beat the home side Saint-Brieuc 3-1 to earn their place in the next stage of their competition. Draw this week. Double joy, as they are also through to the semi-finals of the Paris cup, winning 2-0 at Versailles with goals from Boukhari (og) and Paass.
ANTONY SIRUFO. Back after suspension, Antony played full-back at Beauvais, until a facial injury with ten minutes to go curtailed his match. Abdoulaye Meïté replaced him. Contrary to information we gave last week, Antony Sirufo is still under contract.
JEAN-MARC BRANGER. Jean-Marc Branger will be operated upon this week for a finger problem picked up during the league cup win at Lille.
NATIONAL. Over 20 000 watched Angers earn their place in Division Two, drawing 1-1 at home to Grenoble. Ex-Red Star man Alain Gunia (pictured) cleared off the line with the scores level in the last minute. Three minutes earlier Angers had drawn level after some nerve-wracking moments. Meanwhile, at Marville, Noisy-le-Sec beat Clermont Foot 2-0; the coach of the losers will be named as Gueugnons' new coach (René Le Lamer).
CURTAIN RAISER. Before Saturdays' match there was a friendly between a team composed of journalists from Canal Plus TV, boosted by ex-pros such as Da Fonseca, Sonor, Leclercq, versus a team made up of Beauvais coach Jacky Bonnevay and friends, including our own Régis Roch, Pierre Repellini, Jean-Luc Girard and Red Star big boss Michel Moulin as well as several ex-Beauvais players Zaremba, Justier, Martet, Metsu, Rémy, Marsiglia. For the record, Bonnevays' team won 12-3, including a fine header from Jean-Luc Girard.
DNCG. The DNCG has given the green light for Red Star to keep their status of professional club next season.
BREST PROMOTED. Following La Roche-sur-Yon and Alès, Brest have also been promotedto the National. The fourth place will bedecided next week between Dijon and Boulogne, the former with a one-point lead after Boulogne lost at Metz reserves 5-2.

John & Gérard.

Updated 19th May MORE LIKE A WHISPER THAN A BANG. The season draws to a close on Saturday evening. Next season should start the first weekend in August. Most of the participants are already known, but as happened last year with the Pontivy-Reims episode anything is possible. Most interest this weekend will be focussed on the match Angers-Grenoble, where the two clubs are in competition for the last promotion place. Angers hold the trump card, needing only a draw, but a win for the visitors will propel them into D2.
Jean-Marc Branger BEAUVAIS - RED STAR 93. Two ex-team mates find themselves face to face, the two coaches Jacky Bonnevay and Jean-Luc Girard both being ex-Red Star men. The referee for the encounter will be M. Brizou.
CFA 2. The reserves end their campaign at neighbours Aubervilliers, a club coached by ex-Red Star player Karchaoui. Kick off 4pm CET, Stade Karman, Aubervilliers.
MATCH AT MARVILLE. The third XI still have three matches left, the most important of which could be the rendez-vous on Sunday 21st May, 3-30pm CET at the Stade Marville against Neauphle. One more win and Christophe Fiattes' boys are in the DHR.
RECORD. Other than the match Red Star 93 - Racing, no match in the National had attracted over 15 000. This could be passed on Saturday at the Stade Jean Bouin at Angers, scence of the clash Angers - Grenoble.
MERRY GO ROUND. The usual merry go round of coaches in the National appears to have started. Lawniczak of Racing, a loyal club servant over many seasons will depart for pastures new, to be replaced by GFCO Ajaccios', Jean-Michel Cavalli. Ludovic Batelli, having failed to take Valenciennes back into the big time is on the way out, but will not be replaced by Istres' Arnaud Dos Santos. Potential candidates are Joachim Marx, Yves Herbet, Didier Ollé-Nicole (Raon-l'Etape) and Thierry Goudet, at the end of his contract with Thouars. Note also that the Nationals' top scorer with 21, Jacques Rémy (Martigues) will be joining Strasbourg.
BENJAMIN DESCENDRE. Following the tragic death of a Thouars player at the end of 1999, Raons' Benjamin Descendre, 20, was killed recently in a road accident on the way back from a training session.
AMIENS IN THE NATIONAL ? The financial situation of O.C.C. Nice appears to be in doubt, and it could be possible that Amiens might benefit from a possible demise of Nice and avoid the drop to the National.
PACY. Less than 4 000 inhabitants, but an average of one thousand nevertheless, Pacy have once again survived, but how, with a budget of just 3,7 MF ? More to follow.
MORE ARRIVALS ? Our spies, present at Marville yesterday for the training session spotted three new faces on trial with the club. More to follow.

Updated 17th May MORE RUMOURS. Vincent Doukantie, with one year still remaining on his contract, could be on his way out. Following unfounded reports of departures to either Monaco or Marseille, Saint-Etienne is now cited as being interested, or even a loan to a D2 club (Caen). More to follow.
Fabien Valéri DEPARTURE IMMINENT. Captain Fabien Valéri has failed to reach agreement with the club for an extension to his contract, and so is likely to be on the way out, as are Benjamin Clément, Antony Sirufo, Alain Durand and Laurent Delanoue.
KARIM FELLAHI. Karim undergoes surgery today on his nose, in Paris. He will leave the clinic tomorrow evening, probably wearing a protective mask for a couple of weeks. Despite this, he should still be at the Beauvais game to encourage his team-mates. The operation will demay his signing a contract with Saint-Etienne, a deal tying him to the club for three seasons. Naturally, the presentation to him of this sites' Player of the Year award will be delayed also.
CFA 2. Red Star 93 reserves are 5th with 74 points. Levallois seem to have promotion sealed to the CFA. Incidentally, talking to the directors of visiting club Guesnain, likely to be relegated, they mentioned the difficulties in running a club in the CFA 2 in a village of 4 500 souls. The local council give the club 200 000 Francs, after which the club has to exist on gate receipts, small-time sponsors and lottery ticket sales. In case of win, a player would receive a bonus of 400 francs. How much for Roy Keane ?
UNDER 17S. The 0-0 draw at home to Le Mans now means that Alain Bornands' charges now must earn a draw at Saint-Brieuc to be sure of qualification for the next round. Rennes, following a 7-1 crushing of bottom club Saint-Leu are third, tied on points with Caen winners against Laval 3-2. Saint-Brieuc (9th) beat sixth-placed Guingamp away in their last match. The standings are: 1. Paris SG 67 pts (champions), 2. Red Star 62 pts, 3. Rennes 59 pts, 4. Caen 59 pts.

Updated 16th May TRANSFER RUMOURS. Yes, it's the season of transfer rumours, myths and plain lies concerning movements in and out. Firstly, Richard Akiana, scorer of 14 goals in the league this year could be on his way to newly-promoted Beauvais.
Hippolyte Dangbeto, who has not played this season, but was latterly with Sedan could be on his way to Marville. Age 30, he has played at Matra Racing, Racing Paris 1, Caen, Perpignan & Troyes.
Fabien Valéri may or may not be here next year, nothing has been decided. Contacts have been made with Johan Jacquesson of Stade de Reims, scorer of 18 goals, but Sedan, Nïmes and Angers are also on the case, and the player has expressed a wish to play at a higher level.
One thing is sure, and that is that Tony Cascarino is on his way. Last Saturday, despite scoring twice, his efforts were not enough to save his former club Nancy from the drop to D2. Retiring Auxerre boss Guy Roux paid tribute to Tony, saying that Cascarino had given a lesson to all the young players. Incidentally, Tony finished fith top scorer in the D1 with 15 goals.
NATIONAL. The drama will go right up to the last day, for the third place. But, Grenoble, fourth must win 5-0 at their rivals Angers, both clubs vying for third spot. At the other end two Paris region clubs will drop out of the National, but with a little pride restored following Evrys' win at Reims and Paris FC's derby victory over Racing.
NATIONAL 2000-2001. Other than "administrative relegations", next years' National should be made up of: Louhans-Cuiseaux, Valence Amiens, Grenoble / Angers, Pau, Clermont Foot, Besançon, Valenciennes, Istres, Racing Club Paris, Red Star 93, Reims, Noisy-le-Sec, Thouars, GFCO Ajaccio, Pacy-sur-Eure, La Roche-sur-Yon, Alès, Boulogne, Brest / Saint-Maur-Lusitanos. The new championship should start the first week of August. Four clubs will be professional, the three relegated clubs from D2 plus Red Star 93.
MARVILLE. Satuday 8pm CET, in the championship Noisy-le Sec will play Clermont Foot at their temporary home, Stade Marville.

Pierre Marcus

Updated 15th May PIERRE MARCUS. A minutes silence was respected at Beauvais on Saturday before the match Red Star-Ajaccio in memory of Pierre Marcus (see photo, right), Le Parisien sports journalist. Pierre died of a heart attack last week. Condoloncies to his family, he will be missed at Red Star.
FABRICE MARY. First outing in the first XI, Fabrice wore the number three shirt of his namesake Ludovic Mary (no relation), the latter suspended.
CFA 2. Red Star reserves drew 3-3 at home to Guesnain.

Updated 10th May TRAINING SESSIONS. This week there are sessions Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday at 10-30am CET and Friday afternoon. All at La Courneuve.
SUSPENSIONS. Ludovic Mary, red carded at Martigues is autmoatically suspended. Antony Sirufo will miss his third and last match next weekend.

BEAUVAIS. The Stade Pierre Brisson at Beauvais is situated on the Route de Clermont, holds 10 000 in two decent stands and parking is on-road.
UNDER 15'S. Red Star 93 won their match against Calais 5-0. Bad week for Calais, then.
UNDER 17'S. PSG won their match in hand at Guingamp 3-1, so Red Star slip back into second place. The top of the table thus reads: 1. Paris SG 63 pts, 2. Red Star 60 pts, 3. Rennes 55 pts, 4. Caen 55 pts, 5. Laval 51 pts
DHR. Following the win at Le Chesnay, Red Star 93 have a 6 point lead over Champigny and Le Chesnay.
TOURNAMENT. A tournament held in the region Seine et Marne in which Red Star 93's kids were taken part was marred by the tragic death of a youngster from the Red Star de Montreuil club.
Georges Eo GEORGES EO. Former Red Star player and coach (see photo), now at FC Nantes as assistant coach has won the French cup for the second successive year. Nantes must now beat Le Havre away in order to avoid relegation from the first division. Nantes also hold the longest unbroken run in the top flight, present since 1963.
SAMUEL MICHEL. Guingamp in D1, the scorer of the goal which earned a point for the Bretons and thus sent them into the top flight was none other than our Samy. Good luck to him in the elite next year.
ABDEL DJADAAOUI. Assistant boss to the national side of Algeria until the end of April, Abdel Djadaaoui, former Red Star coach (season 96-97) is now the head honcho there.
CONMAN. Last year, during the match Red Star 93 - Saint-Etienne at the Stade de France, a journalist from Eurosport TV interviewed David Bonadeï, a con-merchant passing himself off as an injured member of Red Stars' squad, sorry to have missed the big occasion. Well, this tosser has been at it again, only this time it's less funny. He's been trying to pass himself off as Wasquehal player Laurent Bonadeï (no relation) and to get himself trials with clubs, or worse still as Laurent's brother (he doesn't have one).
COLEMANBALLS CONTINUED. Okay, so we got it wrong in saying that Martigues beat Red Star 3-1 instead of 3-0... Obviously this site must be used by L'Equipe as reference, as they put 3-1 as well ! France Football have also decided to join in the fun - according to them, in the CFA 2 Red Star 93 beat Maubeuge 3-2 instead of losing 2-0. Hmm.
PETIT LOUIS. Message from Jacky, site contributor: "I've spoken to (Claude) Goya on the telephone today, and he's moved by our concern at his health and surprised to be broadcast on the Web !"

Updated 9th May KARIM FELLAHI. Certain of leaving to destinations already known all that remains is to finalise the contract. Karim is disappointed in not being able to finish the season with Red Star following his nose injury. Doctors will make a decision early this week as to whether the injury will require surgery. Whatever, a massive thanks to Karim for this season, for sticking with the club despite relegation at the end of last season. His reward was to be a star in the cup run and to get himself noticed by a big club. Also thanks to him for replying to our questionnaire.
Despite leaving us, the name Fellahi should live on with the club, as did the name Diawara. Karim was present at the reserve game against Maubeuge at Marville to watch his younger brother Riad, 19, make his debut in the CFA 2.
AZIZ BELISSAOUI. At the end of contract at the end of the season, Aziz ponders his uncertain future, still nursing the arm injury picked up at Pacy.
THE YOUTH. Other than Riad Fellahi, two under-17 players made their debuts in the CFA 2: Macédo Gomes Varela and Jimmy Hamme, but in addition to that Jonathan Sivatte.
COMINGS AND GOINGS. Foussini Diawara is on the point of signing his first pro contract. Following Tony Cascarino, ex-Red Star player from last season Franck Busuttill. Rumoured arrivals are said to include Racings' prolific goalscorer Patrick Van Kets. The latter hit the net again on Friday against Thouars.
AJACCIO. To confirm, the "home" match to GFCO Ajaccio will take place at Beauvais, on Saturday May 13th at 8pm CET.
NATIONAL. Following Beauvais, Martigues are promoted to D2, and Angers look set to join them. The drop is already decided, Paris FC, Evry, Fréjus and Raon-l'Etape the victims. As to take their place, so far La Roche-sur-Yon are up, Alès are not far away, Boulogne are currently slugging out with Dijon in group A whilst in group D, Brest have the advantage on goal difference from Saint-Maur.
BRIGHT SPOT. The third XI of Christophe Fiatte saved the honour of Red Star with a good 2-0 win over third placed Le Chesnay.
RECORD. With their floodlights ko'd by Decembers' storms, Noisy-le-Sec played at Paris FC's ground against Istres, with only 17 paying to see the game. Noisy play thier last match at La Courneuve on May 20, 8pm CET against Clermont.
