Jean-Yves de Blasiis former Red Star player has signed a two-year deal with English D1 club Norwich City. He is currently on tour in Sweden with the Canaries. In two years with Red Star he featured in 71 league games, scoring two goals. We wonder if he has been offered the usual pay benefits plus a company tractor !
NEW SCARF. The Boutique des Amis du Red Star 93 will have a brand new scarf on sale from the beginning o September. As Christmas approaches, why not buy ten ?
AJACCIO. The President of Istres, interviewed on TV L'EQUIPE demanded that all clubs in D2 and the National should boycott the start of the new season as a show of strength with GFCO Ajaccio and Pontivy. Not the last word on this matter. Fact: Ajaccio now have been refused promotion on " financial grounds ". What if they do get promoted, and then like Saint-Brieuc a few seasons ago they just can't continue due to a lack of funds ?
MUSIC (sic). Before the kick off and at half time of all matches in D1, D2 and National the same " official " music will be played over the PA systems. At Red Star this task will be performed, as it has been for several seasons by Claude Goya. Does this means the end of " I Will Survive " ? We hope so.
PRESENTATION OF RED STAR 93
More signings are expected to join the club before the kick-off of the new season. The full details of all the players will appear on the site around the 10th August.
ONE YEAR OLD. Exactly one year ago this site opened its doors to the public, and since then more than 6200 visitors have passed its portals (French & English versions). The authors would like to thank you all for your loyalty, and we intend to keep bringing you all the action and news as it happens. The number one source of information on Red Star 93.
PONTIVY OR REIMS ? Another shambolic piece of pre-season preparation; this time in the National, where Pontivy have been refused permission to take their place in the league. The Brittany club, who won their place in the National by beating Stade de Reims in a play-off have debts of around 180 000 Francs, 18 000 GBP. This pitifully small amount will hand their beaten rivals a place in the starting blocks. Reims will play Besançon on the 7th August. Red Star play at home to Stade de Reims the 28th August. Supporters can then get their car boots loaded up with cheap champers Friday the 28th January, the date of the return match. See fixtures

Updated 23rd July DIVISION 2 - NATIONAL: NEW CRISIS LOOMS. In a typical Gallic shambles, and with only eight days before the kick off of the new season in D2, the Courts in Bastia, Corsica have effectively overruled the Leagues' decision to prevent Gazélec d'Ajaccio from obtaining their ticket to promotion to D2. Now the League must integrate the Corsican club into D2. What now ? Ajaccio in D2 of twenty one clubs, and a National of nineteen, or a National with twenty including Reims; Valence relegated to the National despite being promised a place in D2 and having budgetted & recruited accordingly ? Or perhaps a D2 of 22 along with a reinstated Red Star and its squad assembled for a season in the National. Only in France. Updated 20th July DURAND. After a bright first half, enlightened by a 5th minute goal by the Brazilian triallist Elmeire, Red Star conceded a soft goal ten minutes from the end. The defense, caught napping when the offside trap failed and Racing profitted to equalise.
Perhaps a touch of exhaustion came into the equation after the hard work of the pre-season preparation. This comes to a conclusion with the arrival of newly-promoted Walsall from the English Division One this evening at Marville.
Red Star lined up as follows:
Forët, Delanoue, Mary L., Oponga, El Othmani, Diawara F., Vasseur, Déom, Almeida, Fellahi, Bélas. (subs : Bahya, Meïté, Pizzo, Doukantie, Saci, Nicolas & Goezi).
Two players have signed: Morad El Othmani, defender/libéro from the Youth Team at Châteauroux and Laurent Delanoue from Racing after spells at Nantes, Toulouse and Perpignan.
Triallists are : Almeida, Bélas, Vasseur, Nicolas and Goezi. Early this week the signature of an attacking midfielder is expected.
