In goal, Gilbert Bahyia, was making his debut for Red Star, in place of the rested Jean-Marc Branger.
Benjamin Clément and Fabien Valéri will miss the Martigues game, both serving a one-match ban (three yellow cards in less than ten matches)
As well as losing on the pitch on Saturday, the cup cost Marcqu dearly. In having to play the match at Tourcoing, they paid - floodlights 4000 F, as well as a police presence. No half time snacks, so no revenue there. 500 paying spectateurs each forking out 40 F, of which Marcq only pocket 35%. No money from the French FA, that only takes effect from the 8th round onwards. Hardly encourages the little clubs - the rich get richer, the poor struggle on....
Never mind, at least the Nordists can take comfort in their assets - in Sébastien Bourgeois and Arnaud Doucet they have two excellent players who have attracted the interest of bigger clubs. The cup match could have been the springboard to bigger things
On a sad note, the Thouars midfielder Raphaël Garcia who played at Marville in September died recently. Condolencies from all Red Star supporters to his family.

The four teams at the top haven't changed, and with home matches against Martigues and Fréjus plus a trip away to GFCO Ajaccio, Red Star have a great chance of finishing the year in third place.

Updated 22nd November ECHOS... Some good motoring advice for Jean-Luc Girard, Saturday at the match. Following his accident a few weeks ago, Gigi found himself in the company of the Transport Minister,.Jean-Claude Gayssot. The minister, a staunch supporter of Red Star watched the match alongside the Maire of Noisy-le-Sec.
The only change from the Lille line-up was Obina, who replaced Alain Durand.
Red Star reserves beat Tourcoing in the CFA 2 - Aïchour and Milton scoring in a 2-1 victory at the stadium where Red Star take on Marq in the Cup on Saturday.
The inclement weather put paid to another Noisy-Red Star derby : the third team of Red Star were due to play Nosiy reserves in a DHR match.
Red Stars ' injury list includes Senaya, Bellissaoui and Mamoun. Other squad players were on duty at Toucoing.
Franck Emery, former Red Star player was a playing substitute on Saturday, whilst another, Eugène Kangulungu, played the whole match. This player also had trials with Auxerre.

Updated 19th November EDITORIAL. Correction from the Lille reports - the secong Red Star goal should have been credited to Alain Durand, direct from a corner.
CHAMPIONSHIP. With the next round of the League Cup taking place the weekend of the 8th & 9th of January 2000, a fixture list shuffle will be called for, with Beauvais and Red Star both in cup action. Normally there would be a round of National matches that weekend, with Red Star having an awkward trip to Angers.
SATURDAY. Back to the championship, now, and the clash of Seine-Saint-Denis on Saturday at the Stade Allende at Noisy-le-Sec. Will Red Star have the stamina after a gruelling two hours at Lille ? Noisy's captain, Paul Tran, following his side's win at Grenoble declared " We'd like to remain unbeaten up to the Winter pause. On Staurday it's the supremacy of Seine-Saint-Denis at stake - if we win, we'll be level on points with Red Star".
Elsewhere, important matches will take place - Racing (3rd) welcome leaders Besançon, whilst Istres (2nd) travel to Pacy-sur-Eure. Beauvais (4th) three points ahead of Red Star are at home to Fréjus (best away team with four wins) and Grenoble (5th) travel to Martigues.

Updated 18th November LAST WORD ON THE CUP. Despite the record books showing a two-all draw, Tuesday nights' result will nevertheless still be a win for Red Star. The last time Red Star won there was on the 16th September 1978 where the visitors won a division two encounter 3-2.
FACE IN THE CROWD. Philippe Laurier, coach of Marcq-en-Baroeul was in the crowd, no doubt catching up on Red Star, his clubs' next opponents in the French Cup. The match will most likely bt brought forwards to the 27th November, kick off 7pm CET, and will take place at Tourcoing, because Marcq-en-Baroeuls', home ground is not deemed satisfactory for the encounter.
SIRUFO. If Thiam retains a one hundred percent record from his first three matches with Red Star, then another can be equally pleased with his performances of late. Anthony Sirufo, who played twenty minutes in the large win over Pacy, had a memorable night in the north. Sixty-third minute substitute for Benjamin Clément, not only did he score his first goal for the club, the injury time equaliser, but his was the fourth and decisive spot kick for Red Star.
Meanwhile Lille coach Valhid Halilhodzic admitted sadly, "Certain members of my team showed limited ability. Without three or four big players, Lille runs the risk of sliding back into obscurity. What a waste". His opposite number, Pierre Repellini had another verdict, " We have demonstrated that we are capable of playing at the level of the second division "
The Lillois are beginning to take a dislike to teams from the National - last year they were knocked out of the League Cup by Louhans-Cuiseaux, then leader of the National.
Even if Red Star fail to make it past the next stage, Tuesday nights' victory pocketted a tidy 1 100 000 Francs
The clubs through to the next round, to be played the 8th & 9th of January 2000 are the Division One clubs : Auxerre, Bastia, Bordeaux, Le Havre, Lens, Lyon, Marseille, Metz, Monaco, Montpellier, Nancy, Nantes, Paris SG, Rennes, Saint-Etienne, Sedan, Strasbourg, Troyes ; Division Two clubs : Amiens, Créteil, Gueugnon, Guingamp, Le Mans, Louhans-Cuiseaux, Nice, Nîmes, Niort, Sochaux, Toulouse, Wasquehal/Châteauroux (match 24/11) and finally the two National clubs, Beauvais and Red Star 93.
