Akim Saci absent Saturday could feature in new coach Nasser Sandjaks' plans as part of the Algerian squad for the forthcoming African Nations Cup. A double blow for Red Star, with Richard Akiana also on international duty in the same competition.
Red Star 93 is the only Nationa club still involved in all three competitions, (League, Cup and League Cup) following the demise of Beauvais, knocekd out of the Cup on Friday at Créteil. Still in the Cup from the National are Besançon, Grenoble, Racing CP, Thouars, Pacy, Red Star 93 and possibly Evry, who still have their tie outstanding. Parisian clubs involved are Paris SG, Créteil, Red Star 93, Racing CP, Levallois (CFA2) and potentially Evry. The draw for the next round will be made on the 5th of January 2000.
The Coupe Gambardella tie has been postoponed to a later date, due to an unplayable pitch.
OnTuesday, Clermont beat GFCO Ajaccio 3-0 in the league, to drop Red Star one place to sixth.
Updated 20th December ECHOS. Just as in previous rounds, Red Star made a day-trip of the match, arriving at the Stade Blin at twenty pas four for a sux pm kick-off.
PROGRAMME. Avion cobbled together a sixteen page programme for the match, including features on Roger Lemerre.
ROBITAIL. The coach of Avion, David Robitail is also the son of the towns' mayor. Pre-match, Robitail was quoted as saying " This match is our European Cup. The team is capable of anything, but pay the price in the championship. " Let's hope that Avion go on to achieve promotion into the CFA 2, and a possible encounter with Red Star reserves.
FOXES. Avion are nicknamed " the Foxes ".
PITCH. Despite the appalling weater recently, the pitch was in very good condition.
MAMOUN. Blaise Mamoun experienced both joy and despair - despite scoring what turned out to be the winning goal, hes was stretchered off in the second half, victim of a serious knee injury.
DELANOUE. Laurent Delanoue was the other substitute.
GIRARD. Before the match, Jean-Luc Girard told us "Lots of people call this a favourable draw for Red Star, but it will only be favourable if we can beat Avion ".
HOLIDAYS. Eight days of holidays for the players after the win at Avion.
PIZZO. Mickaël Pizzo, discovery of the season so far will miss the League Cup tie against Nîmes, suspended following three yellow cards.
OOPS ! Not only this site makes spelling mistakes - in the newspaper Voix du Nord on Saturday, Red Star with a d on the end, former coach Abdel Djadaaoui transformed into Abdul Dissuadai. Worse, local coach David Orbital msyteriously replaced David Robitail. Perhaps the celebratory glass of champagne was a little premature !
Updated 17th December AVION - RED STAR 93. Despite snowfall dring the previous night, Avion are confident that Saturdays' match will go ahead., at 6pm CET. Last Sunday Avion beat Grande Synthe 3-1 to confirm their places as group leaders. Red Star will be without Akim Saci (back strain) and Eric Obina.
Updated 16th December END OF ONE MILLENIUM, START OF ANOTHER. What better way to end the year by qualification to the 1/32 round of the cup, with the possibility of a match against a club of division one. By Saturday evening, providing the weather does not determine otherwise, we shall know. For the match, the coaching staff of Red Star should be able to count upon the marjority of the players involved in the victory against Fréjus, with the possible return of Ludovic Mary, back after serving a suspension. The match is eagerly anticipated in the Pas-de-Calais, the Avionnais dream of pulling off a shock, and the possibility of a big fish in the next round, possibly a big pay-day at Lens, why not Lens themselves ? Last Sunday the under-15's of Avion managed to beat their counterpart from Paris Saint-Germain 2-0. Saturdays' match will be officiated by Jean-Luc Rodolphe, former professional goalkeeper.
Updated 15th December NEWS OF RED STAR OLD BOYS. Dujeux, Brouard, Thimothée, Boutal, Diawara, Lucas, Vasquez. Ex Red Star players continue to star all over the country.
Division Two - Alexandre Dujeux (Châteauroux) and Régis Brouard (Nîmes) both on the scoresheet. Watch out, Régis will be at Marville on the 8th of January with Nîmes for the league cup match.
D1 - Montpellier welcome back Didier Thimothée, out since the start of the season, and back to help the club from the Hérault sliding down into D2.
Samuel Boutal scored his third goal for Troyes, and together with Samba Diawara are on the way back up the table with their new clubs. Incidentally, Troyes have the same number of points as Marseille, how have five times the budget of the Aubois !
Raphaël Vasquez at Alès is set for promotion to the National.

Updated 13th December Following the defeat at Ajaccio, and the apalling weather, only four hundred die-hards turned up for the match against Fréjus.

The Winter break runs from the 18th to the 27th of December. Training resumes on the 29th, before a friendly at Créteil (D2) on the 30th.
The next round of the League Cup takes place against Nîmes at 5pm CET on Saturday 8th January 2000 at Stade Marville.
Thus, the match at Angers in the National, originally planned for the 8th will now take place on the 12th of January. Three days later, Besançon are the visitors to Marville.
The CFA2 match Red Star 93-Levallois was called off due to the poor state of the pitch at Bauer.
In the Coupe Gambardella, Sunday 19th December, Red Star 93 will play at Villiers-sur-Marne.
In Coupe de Paris, the DHR side of Red Star 93 will play Lusitanos de Saint-Maur.

SOUDANI. Farid Soudani still under contract with Red Star has signed with second division club AC Ajaccio. On his debut last week at Sochaux, as a 65th minute substitute he scored the winning goal for his new club just seventeen minutes after coming on.

COUPE DE FRANCE (8th round) 18-19 December AVION (DH) - RED STAR 93 Today, at lunch time, the hand of Roger Lemerre drew out the cup pairing of Avion (DH) and Red Star 93. Avion, something of a cup specialist over many years, reached the sixteenth finals in 1952, and in 1938, 1953, 1654 and 1955 went to the 1/32 stage.
In 1997, in the eighth round, Red Star played and suffered at Avion, drawing 0-0 after extra time before winning 3-1 on penalties.
In the last round, Avion, knocked out Dieppe of CFA 2 by 2-1.
All is not lost, and Red Star version 1999-2000, travel well to the north !

ITS TIGHT AT THE TOP ! Besançon emerged as winners despite not playing last night. They stay on top thanks to their rivals all failing to win - Istres, Beauvais, Red Star 93 all drawing and Racing CP slumping to another defeat. A Besançon spy was at Marville swotting up on the Red Star in preparation for his sides trip to the capital on the 15th of January. Other clubs to gain are Grenoble who jumpt to fourth with their 4-0 demolition job of Ajaccio, and Valenciennes. Angers are seven points adrift, with a game in hand. A good point for Noisy-le-Sec at Istres to celebrate the naming of their coach Nasser Sandjak as new national coach of Algeria.
Red Star 93 remain unbeated since the 12th of October when they lost at Racing, and with three matches before the winter break, GFCO Ajaccio and Fréjus in the league, plus a French cup match Red Star hope to continue this and to end the century on a high note.

Former Red Star 93 player, Tarek Bouadellah, was present at Marville. Tarek started the season with Valence (D 2), but has just signed with Racing CP.

A reminder that the reserves match in the CFA 2 against Levallois on the 12th of December is reversed and will be a home match for Red Star at Stade Bauer, 3pm CET.

THE NECESSITY OF VICTORY. Tonight at Marville, Red Star 93 must win in order to open a gap of six points between themselves and tonight's opponents, Martigues. Yesterday evening, Beauvais drew at Raon, so the chance to pull alongside one of the promotion rivals presents itself. For this important match, Pierre Repellini and Jean-Luc Girard will be without capitain Valéri and key defender Clément. The two, suspended for the match allow for the return of Delanoue and Diawara, as well as Branger and Abda, both absent at Tourcoing.
