SURPRISE OF THE SEASON

Besançon, newly promoted to the National, and without making a fuss, have set out their stall and find themselves in the top three in the league, a place they have not deserted since the season started. Despite having ambitions merely to retain their status in the league, with a modest budget of 6.5 MF, Besançon seriously start to look at promotion.
Trinita, middle In 1986, the old professional club folded, Racing de Besançon who had played for over forty years in the second division abandoned their place in D2 to Red Star, saved by the misfortune of their rivals. After a name change, the new club restarted in D4, but were then demoted to the DH. Since the club has fought its way back to the National. This season started with four straight victories, including a 2-1 win at home to Red Star.
Captain Jean-Marc Trinita (see photo, stood in the middle) is well known to Red Star and to Pierre Repellini, coach at Lyon-Duchère, then together at Red Star. Trinita, born in Besançcon started his career there at nineteen years of age against Red Star, the match ending 2-2, and featured Sylvain Kastendeuch and Patrice Lecornu for Red Star and Trinita and current Besançon coach Sylvain Matrisciano for their opponents.
