HISTORY

Julien Darui

The current club has been in existence for two years, but the first clubs in Dijon date back to 1936 (Cercle Laïque Dijonnais). The first honour for this club was the Champion of Bourgogne with Julien Darui, a cup-winner in 1946 with Red Star, as coach. In 1965 the club was CFA champions under coach L. Glowacki. However Dijon refused to turn professional, and shortly afterwards the club dropped into the DH. During the 1980's the club fought its way back to D3, then in 1987 came promotion to D2 watched by over 5000 supporters. Promotion was achieved on the last day of the season with a win over Orléans. The then club president declared "D1 in 1990", but he must have eaten too much of the local produce, mustard, as during 1990-91 the club was relegatedto D4 by the DNCG.
The merger between Cercle and FC Dijon came, and last season the club were promoted from CFA to the National. A steady start to the season hs seen the club reach sixth place, unbeaten at home with only one goal conceded.
