Following Red Star 93s' relegation to the CFA, France 3 TV broadcasted a special report on the Saint-Ouen club, a film made by Denis Ferdet, J. Gauthier and M. Briand.
In her presentation, the announcer said : Picture of a training session at La Courneuve in the pouring rain followed. Commentary by Denis Ferdet.
"Black clouds over Red Star. A descent after having played in the D2 and then the National for the last two years. A descent which does not unsettle the clubs' directors.". Pictures of Marville on match day, taken during the semi-final last year. Voice-over by Denis Ferdet : "Red Star is the second major club in the Paris region, behind Paris SG, with a budget of 30 MF. The mythical club nearly went under in 1978, and ther are supporters who hope that the same situation does not arise again.
"Red Star are in free-fall... last years League Cup semi-finalists once upon a time dreamed of playing at the Stade de France. Next season they will be in the CFA. Despite this seemingly endless descent, the supporters are still loyal and the club is hoping to fight on with its' young hopeful from the youth academy.".
Interview with Bras in the corridor at Stade bauer.
"We have a fighting spirit - what's happened to Red Star is really unfair. Red Star are in good health financially, in good health in terms of the youth development, the clubs' image is good in terms of community relations. If only our first team hadn't played so badly throughout the season. There are certainly reasons why, errors have been made collectively and I accept my share of the responsibility.".
Interview with Gérard Valck, member of the Amis du Red Star
"We will carry on and will do all that we can so that Red Star rises again, and I belive that if the clubs' directors are capable of building a squand, and if everyone pulls together, Red Star can climb back into the National.".
Denis Ferdet : "Therefore the club isn't finished for good".
G.V. "Red Star will never die, it almost did in 1978, it will not die in 2001".
To finish, picutures from the game GFCO Ajaccio – Red Star and an announcement of the games at Brest and at home to Amiens.
D.F. "The Verts of Seine-Saint-Denis promise to prolong the life of an 104-years old club which does not want to pass on just yet".
