FREJUS - OPPONENTS OF RED STAR 93

ETOILE SPORTIVE FREJUCIENNE

Founded 1938
Colours : blue shirts blue shorts
Stade Pourcin, avenue du XVème Corps 83600 Fréjus.
Coach : Jacky Novi who took over from Didier Dervout during this season.
In 1994, the club became French division four champions. Since then the club has competed in the National, and last term finished in a honourable tenth spot. Top scorer with nine was Stéphane Beyrac (9 buts). Thie season, after a bad start, Jacky Novi a former Olympique Marseille and French international (twenty caps) replaced Didier Dervout. The indifferent spell continues and the club yo-yo between fourteenth and eighteenth places. The main objective is to avoid the drop and a series of impressive performances away from home could play a key factor in the fight for survival.
Red Star 93 must beware of Fréjus, a side capable of both good and bad results. The defence will have to be alert against one of the best travelling attacks in the league. Red Star had no difficulty in disposing of their hosts 3-1 in the away match, which was played at neutral Hyères whilst the stade Pourcin was closed under a league sanction. Fellahi and two goals from Saci winning the match for the visitors.
The current top scorer is Christophe Ajas, one ofthe few midsummer recruits at Fréjus, just ahead of Stéphane Beyrac. The match on Saturday 11th December will be the first time that Red Star have played Fréjus at home.
