On the 18th January 1986, in front of a paltry 1028 spectator, fourteenth-placed Red Star welcomed bottom club Grenoble, both clubs desperately seeking points. In a tight match, Red Star created good chances before the break through Youssef Belkebla (14th et 44th minutes) and a shot from Leverrier which rattled the crossbar. Grenoble could only muster one shot from Czech international Nehoda just before the interval. The second period did not produce the goods and the two sides ended the encounter with a no-score draw.
