The Grenoblois, current National leaders came so close to promtion last season, failing only on the very last game at Angers. Red Star 93 were a bogey team for coach Alain Michel, with two wins for Pierre Repellinis' men at Marville 2-1 and 3-0 at Grenoble. No doubt a one-goal win will do for Red Stars' coach this season !
Grenoble have lost at home twice this term in eleven games, including their last game aginst Dijon 1-2. Away from home, they have lost only once. They beat Red Star 2-0 in the game at Marville earlier this season. A recent recruit is ex-Red Star man Joël André.

Since that defeat against Dijon, Grenoble have qualified for the next round of the French Cup as well as winning away at Pau 1-0 with a goal from current top scorer Dogbé (11 goals). A man that Red Star will have to watch closely on Friday.
The victorious line-up at Pau was : Guéguen, Bravo, Yao, Debrosse, Courtin, Milazzo, Sonko (Sergi), Périatambée, David (André), Dogbé, Radojcic (Carrière).
Seven of those taking part are included on the team photo above, absent being Laranjo, Ravaux, Cassama and David.
With a six point advantage over the fourth placed club, Grenoble are in a good position to rediscover their place in D2, which they left in 1992.
They have a good home support with average gates around the 4000 mark, and 10 000 turned out for the visit of Besançon, in some part due to a special promotional offer of 100 FRF entry price which included a free team shirt. A good idead to kindle interest in the club and a bit of publicity for it's sponsors.
If Grenoble have ex-Red Star man Joël André in their ranks, then the visitors can count on Jean-Marc Branger and Olivier Saragaglia, both of whom have made the trip in the opposite direction, and are now at Red Star 93.
