Winger
International (31 caps)
Clubs : CAP, Excelsior Roubaix, Red Star (1934-1935), Saint-Etienne.
First great professional footballer in France. Could play anywhere in attack, but really starred out wide on the left. A two-footed player, he played in the inaugural World Cup in 1930, and went on to score seven goals at international level.
Marcel Langiller, scorer of the first goal, lifted the French cup in 1933, a final between Excelsior AC de Roubaix and RC de Roubaix, won by Excelsior 3-1. He was a cup final loser in 1928 with Club Athlétique de Paris. He later went on to become coach and president of CAP, a division two club. A club noted for its habit of frequenting the nether regions of division 2, from 1946 until the club folded in 1963. The club played its matches at Saint-Ouen.

Goalkeeper
Clubs : AS Mantes, Reims, Chaumont, Red Star (1968-1974), Reims and Avignon.
Spectacular goalkeeper whose exploits have made him into arguably the most popular tenant of this position in the last thirty years. Specialist penalty taker as well as stopper, his penalty five minutes from time in an important championship match against Bordeaux gave Red Star victory in 1971-72. In 1973 his penalty conversion took Red Star into the next round of the cup against Sochaux. Together with Bernard Ducuing (ex-Red Star 1970-1975) and Alain Polaniok (future player 1989-1993), he took part in a cup final with Reims, losing out to Saint-Etienne, 2-1.
Accompanied by Simonyi, he performed the ceremonial kick-off to Red Stars' 1000th match in D2 in November 1993.

Lecornu arrived at Red Star at 18 years old an immediately his dribbling skills and speed left an impression on both the crowd and his opponents. When the club folded in 1978 Lecornu left and together with Marc Berdoll formed a formidable partnership at Angers. Here, he was capped by his country before a transfer to Nantes. Unfortunately his career was curtailed by a car accident.
Back at Stade Bauer in 1984, another injury whilst playing against Rennes finally ended his career. He became part of the backroom staff at Red Star, and is currently in charge of the academy at Red Star, after a brief spell as caretaker boss in 1989-90. He has been responsible for the development of a number of the current first team players. International :

One of the oddities in the career of Lucien Leduc, other than having represented ten different clubs is that he played in two cup finals with two different teams and lost them both ! In 1942 with Sète versus Red Star and again in 1946 for Red Star against Lille.
He was in the national team that beat England, along with Aston and Darui. Despite the presence in the English team of several big-name players such as Billy Wright (more than 100 caps), Tom Lawton and Stanley Matthews, the match was never officially recognised by the English FA.
Lucien Leduc then became a coach, a path which led hime to Annecy, Monaco, Angers, Marseille, Reims, Standard Liège, W.A.C. Casablanca and Monaco. With the latter club he won the French Cup and several championships. International :
