NICOLAS Paul

Born Paris, 4th November 1899

Clubs : Saint-Mandé, Gallia Club, Red Star (1920-1928), Amiens.
Arguably the greatest centre-fowards in the history of Red Star if not French Football. Won the French Cup four times. Thirty-five caps, twenty eight whilst with the Red Star. Twenty international goals. Captain of the national team from 1925. Played in the Olympics of 1924 and 1928.
Paul Nicolas was also a great ambassador of the French game, President of the union of the professional clubs as well as being director of the French team (Fontaine, Kopa) which finished third in the 1958 World Cup Finals in Sweden. Unfortunately his life ended in tragic circumstances, victim of a road accident in 1959. International :
