Istres still have a faint chance of promotion to D2, lying sixth with forty-nine points. Following a visit to the grounf od Paris FC on Saturday, Istres stay in the capital for a visit ot Marvilles.
David Guion (see photo), Istres' defender knows the stadium at Marville well, having played in the green shirt last season. Coached by Dos Santos Istres have a strong defence, with only 25 goals conceded, third best in the league. This is offset, however, by an indiffeent strike force away from home. Top scorer is Cassèse with ten.
5 october 1985, week thirteen of D2, Red Star welcomed Istres to Saint-Ouen, following a bad series of five defeats for the home side. 1500 spectators saw a 4-1 win for Roger Lemerres' side.
In the first half, a lob from the home sides' Bouzidi opened the scoring. After the break, Rached scored from a 47th minute free kick, Kedadouche notched the third before Kerjean pulled one back for Istres. Finally Leverrier wrapped things up from a Karim Belkebla free-kick, and Red Star left the pitch to a warm reception from the crowd.
Substitue that day for Istres was a young Franck Priou. Fifteen years later and Priou is back at Istres and has already scored seven goals.
