This season, Pathé took over 34 % of the capital of the club, with title aspirations, but an early season disappointment came with successive exits from the Champions league by Maribor, Slovak champions, then a the UEFA cup. A League Cup defeat at home to Bastia (0-1), then Lyon find themselves ten points behind leaders Monaco in the league. A 6-1 hammering at Nantes was followed by a good 2-0 win over Marseille. Thus, the only trophy left this season is the French Cup.
Arrivals at the club this season have been Sonny Anderson , (120 MF from FC Barcelona), Tony Vairelles (Lens), Pierre Laigle (Sampdoria) and Serge Blanc (Montpellier). Big money investment requires the results, which have not been forthcoming, so any more errors and Lacombe could find himself at the door. Tony Vairelles
