PACY-SUR-EURE - OPPONENTS OF RED STAR 93

PACY-SUR-EURE

Founded 1932, Stade Pacy-Menilles (capacity 1500).
Coach : Laurent Hatton since July 1998. Hatton, born and bred in Pacy-sur-Eure served the club for virtually all of his playing career, except for a two-year stint at Louviers. His right-hand man is Patrick Vallée, ex under-15's coach at Pacy.
Pacy-sur-Eures' phenomenal rise from parks football culminated in promotion to the National last season. In their first term in the National, Pacy narrowly avoided the drop and finished 16th. Top scorer was Olivier Hameau with thirteen. Most of the players originate from the region. This year the line-up has been reinforced with the arrivals of serveral experienced players, such as Brunier (Guingamp), Cuvier, Desportes Valenciennes), Jenni (Angers) ans Kouakoua (Dijon).
One former Red Star player in the squad, being CFA 2 defender Maurice N'Tounou, an international for Congo.
After a bright start to the season, things have turned somewhat sour for Pacy. A draw with Racing, victory over Besançon has been followed by two home thumpings - firstly by lowly Fréjus (0-4) then by Grenoble (0-3). The club has slipped down to sixteenth place, only one point ahead of the first relegation place. The Normans are stubborn opposition away from home, with five draws from eight matches, but have yet to win on their travels.
This is the forst time the two clubs have clashed in the championship, although last season Red Star disposed of Pacy 2-0 at Marville in a friendly match.
Pacy-sur-Eure look to survive in the National, and Red Star will have to beware a side coming to Marville to pull off an exploit. Before the match at Marville, Pacy will have to face a stiff test in the Cup versus Rouen, one of last seasons' giant-killers, coached by Laurent Roussey.
