SUPERSUB GEOFF EARNS A DRAW

Red Star came away from their opening day fixture at local rivals Poissy with a well-deserved draw thanks to an equaliser eight minutes from time from subsitute Geoffroy Da Costa.
On an afternoon of shirt sleeves basking in the August sunshine, Red Star started brightly with Kemas looking dangerous. Indeed it was Kemas, forcing a way through the Poissy defence whom should have earned a penalty after only five minutes of play, but instead of a spot kick, the Red Star man came away with nothing but a booking for diving. Nevertheless Red Star persisted and continued to pile on the pressure. Fabiano was imposing his game in the midfield and with Ouattara looking dangerous out wide, Yannick Berthier probing and pushing forwards and Kemas more than a handful for the central defenders it was a case of how long the home defence could hold out.
But, as is often the case, the side showing the most entreprise was the one to fall behind. A truly shocking line decision allowed Raddas to set off from an offside position and round Djidonou to score (0-1). Unfair on Red Star whos defence had been up to the task until then. The setback was put to one side as Red Star set about the task of drawing level and Kemas had several good chances to grab an equaliser, the best chance being a one-on-one saved by the feet of Poissys' Vincent Magniez.
Poissy dominated the early exchanges of the second period, but Yoann Djidonou was proving to be a capable successor to Yann Bell. Rogin, not entirely in the game was replaced by Da Costa and Red Star now had two strikers up front. Red Stars' noisy fans, numerous as usual gave a good ovation for the returning Reevis N'Simba and their hero gave a good account of himself as the game entered the latter stages. Finally, the deserved goal came as Da Costa broke away down Poissys' left, pulled the ball back for Kemas whos first effort was saved by Magniez but DA COSTA was on hand, lightning quick, to ram the ball home (1-1).
Red Star might have won the game but for some good work in the Poissy defence and the goalkeeping skills of Magniez. A late corner for the hosts porduced nothing and the game ended in a fair draw. For Red Star there is still some work to be done to forge a complete team playing as a unit, but as coach Naidon said, these things take time. Fabiano had a good game and even had his name chanted by the Red Star faithful. Yannick Berthier probed and pushed forwards, creating space down the right and on the opposite flank Ouattara showed great touches and flair and intelligence. But the player that had the fans talking at the end of the game was Khaled Kemas. The general opinion was that looks deceive. Khaled looks to be carrying one or two kilos too many, but in the penalty area the man was a constant thorn in the side of the Poissy defence. Twisting turning, using his body to shield the ball, Kemas has a lightning turn and strike which should catch out more than one defence. A bit more luck on Saturday and he would have been rewarded with a goal.
